Reconquista Spanier WIP
Christof:
Hello Axebreaker,
the skin is a major problem with these miniatures as the spanish should have tanned skin. I started with black undercoat, base coated light brown and most spearmen do now have dwarf flesh added as a second layer.
Last time I painted skin was on white primed miniatures:
It has been a while... Next step for the norman spearmen will probably be some touch up with dwarf flesh to have a cleaner look and then a dark flesh wash. Next step would be highlighting with a mix of dwarf flesh (citadel) and caucasian (Reaper).
Regards Christof
KingKobra:
Für Shieldwall Normannen empfiehlt der Autor: \"not to bright reds, blues and greens can be used along with browns, greys and creams\"

@Christof
Ahh,you wish a tanned skin tone. ;) Again, black undercoat.then Dark Flesh for base,2nd highlight is tanned skin, final highlight is Dwarf Flesh. If it\'s to dark then just add some Skull White to Dwarf Flesh for a 4th and final highlight.I assume your painting for the regiment to play.If you really want a detailed flesh tone then start black undercoat,Dark Flesh,Dark Flesh/Tanned Flesh,Tanned Flesh,Tanned Flesh/Dwarf Flesh,Dwarf Flesh,Dwarf Flesh/Skull White.
I\'m a firm believer in Black undercoating. If you want your models colors to be bright, then use a white undercoat, but black undercoat will tone the colors down and give it a \"cool\"(as in cold) look to it.This is what I prefer. :thumbup:
I\'m not a fan of washes in general, :thumbdown: as they don\'t control very well and often give \"splotches\" on the model.Do not use washes for skin or clothes, always paint using a layered paint tech.Washes can work for fur, hair, wood and chainmail or if you wish to age gold, armour and weapons.
Whatever road you wish to use,I wish good luck and good painting! :D
Cheers
Axebreaker
