@axebreaker
but the main issue is that each new editions army books allowed less and less room to avoid it.
Agreed. But it\'s my point of view that you CAN -with good will- avoid powergaming. That is what \"Eigenrestriktion\" means.
And I insist that it is still possible with 7th edition. We play a lot of 7th edition, partly with new, partly with 6th edition army books.
We are a group that hates powergaming and we have much fun playing WHFB this way. And some of us knew the old editions, too.
I think it is too easy to say \"You can\'t avoid powergaming\". You can, if you want to.
And the new argument that brought me back in the discussion is that I was surprised that \"uncontrolled\" armies were common in earlier editions as well.
So I assumed it was a kind of \"good ol\' days\" thing, that the old editions were so good and the new ones are such bad.
And to be honest: It\'s fantasy, so I WANT heroes to kill 3 ordinary troopers per round and I WANT spells to incinerate 5-6 troopers per round as long as it doesn\'t leave the opponent without chance.
That is why we play fantasy, isn\'t it? Otherwise we could play WAB as well. No superheroes and no spells there.

But in fact, this was a point of discussion I remembered from another thread about WHFB editions, not this one. And because of this, I will let it be with that last post.
