Preview: Pike & Shotte Cavalry Art
These are two of our most eagerly anticipated products to date and we’re not far from release! As we are kind and benevolent, we are willing to give you a taster of what’s to come with the box art for both sets. More details will be available soon but for now feast your eyes on the shape of things to come:
We’ve created these images so they can quite easily be used as desktop images for your personal computer. Bring a bit of Royalist or Roundhead Cavalry to your desktop, the models will be available before you know it!

Preview: Pike & Shotte ‘Fire & Brimstone’
We always endeavour to not only bring you finely sculpted miniatures but also ones with great character and style. Therefore it is with no small amount of pleasure that we give to you a preview of our upcoming blister pack evocatively titled: Pike & Shotte Fire & Brimstone:
First off we have a Ranter, also known as a Leveller, Digger, or Agitator. The Parliament forces were full of them. Charismatic, forceful, bellicose, determined men who would hector and cajole their comrades to club together to be listened to and demand change!
Quite what they wanted could change daily, but commonly it would, not unreasonably, be about not being paid for 5 months, having no clothes to wear or no food to eat. Worse than that, sometimes the ale ran out! Often enough it was rather higher questions that were being asked. Matters of religion and God’s command of man. “When Adam delved and Eve spun, who then was the gentleman?”, was a question asked in the ranks.
Warlord’s Ranter is a New Model Army man who is obviously appealing to his fellows to see reason. He has a scarf wrapped around his arm as a sign of his politicisation, a pamphlet on soldiers’ rights stuffed into his hatband, and a suitably barmy expression. All he needs now is a chat with that nice Mr Cromwell - he seems a reasonable man
.
Our next model is a Cleric based in some part on Archbishop Laud, who was done in by the Roundheads for being a bit old-fashioned in his views (ie, not being a bigoted Puritan). This saintly man has a sly expression, and worryingly carries a sword by his side (for protection or to enforce his preachings?).
We envision him being used mainly in Royalist armies to give a sermon before the battle. A bit of fire and brimstone before they go forward to do the Lord’s work. He is also just the man to accompany Montrose’s Irish Brigade in their campaigns (more on those in a newsletter soon
). Montrose had many Catholics in his army and they no doubt had priests to hear their confessions and crimes. We suspect they must have been busy men

Our Puritan Preacher is a bit of a misery. He carries the good book and isn’t afraid to use it! As you can see he is giving his flock a severe talking to, hopefully inspiring them to great things in Parliament’s cause
“One King, KING JESUS!”, was one of the Parliamentarian’s regular chants.
This model can be used in all Parliament armies, and especially in the New Model Army. In a pinch he can be put in Covenanter units as well (they were all Protestants) to wind up the lads against the filthy Highlanders and their Popish Catholicism!

New Release: Pike & Shotte Command Group
Even though you have superb variety for command models in the plastic Pike & Shotte infantry boxed sets we couldn’t resist but make even more Command models! These highly detailed and superbly characterful miniatures are ready to lead your regiments to battle right now and you can see them in detail below:
Our officer is lifted straight from page 116 of Wagner’s classic Thirty Years’ War book. A classic study, he is richly dressed, in an old-fashioned jacket and possibly has served on the continent himself. He will be ideal for all early armies, as Royalist, Parliament or Covenanter and will serve as a captain or lieutenant of foot. He has a partizan, sword, and a pistol hung down from his belt.
Our sergeant is a hard-bitten professional who has seen a thing or two in his time. He wears a Burgonet helmet, sleeveless buff coat, and is doing what sergeants do best - shouting! He could easily find a home in any Civil war army.
This fellow is a classic Ensign, with sword drawn and dressed in a cassock. He could also be used in all armies, Rebel, Royalist, Scots or Montrose (are you seeing a theme here?).
Every Company fielded at least one drummer and ours is neatly attired in a posh jacket with ribbon and braid attached. He wears a jaunty Montero with feathers in. This is something that the Colonel has thought it worth dipping into his own pockets for, which was common at the time. While he is not carrying a sword, he is still packing a pistol for close defence.
All of these excellent Command miniatures are available for your Pike & Shotte army in the Warlord webstore here.

Cleric und Preacher wĂ€ren bestimm cool fĂŒr ein 3 Musketiere Thema. :)  Aber auch das ist meiner Meinung nach sehr fein geworden.
