What do you dislike about the beards, i think they are ok.
Maybe they seem to be a little bit thick or sth, but these are beards that grew since beards start to grow, not such modern beards, which are cut, chanced, and whatever, all day long
and at least not everything was fake
George Lazenby insisted that he have a real beard instead of a fake one for his role as Brig. Gen. J. Johnston Pettigrew in the film. So his scene was not shot until he had grown a full beard.
