ECW
Axebreaker:
Does anyone play Warhammer ECW? :rolleyes: I have a large Royalist army built,but I haven\'t painted it yet.This mainly has to do with the lack of interest I\'ve seen on the subject here.Perhaps if I find an interested player I would paint my force up. :thumbup:
Poliorketes:
No offense ment, but ECW is not only unpopular but in large parts of germany unknown. I think it\'s historically completely unimportant because of the Stuart restauration, and in military terms not really important if compared to the french contemporaries. For the british it\'s part of their history and the last great war on british soil, but nothing compared to the 30 years war, the turk wars or the early wars of Louis XIV. I guess few in britain would be really interested in playing Frondé, although it\'s quiet the same as ECW.

First let me say that I\'m american not english so we understand why I\'m defending this period out of a point of view and not some form of nationalism.The American Civil War isn\'t important unless of course your an american,but that hasn\'t prevented alot of non-american\'s from being interested in it. ;) Oh,we also can\'t forget the Alamo in The Mexican/American war.I wonder how many times that one has been fought.And,without a doubt the entire Japanese civil wars are completely unimportant to non-japanese ,but that has not stopped anyone from being interested to say the least.:whistling: I think what your discounting is the romance of this war, and that I believe is important and not just if it is historicaly relevent on a international scale.There were alot of colorful characters and interesting battles that took place in this war.For example if Prince Rupert could have controled his cavalry a bit better a couple battles could have gone very different indeed to start with and so on and so forth.My point is that we won\'t change history,but if it\'s interesting why not try and who cares if it was historicaly important as long as it captures the imagination. :)
Knoedelmeister:
Yes, that was a good writing. I like the ECW because of the miniatures. And Axe is right with for example the Japanese Samuraiwars. A lot of Wargamers like this period and they are not Japanese. I think it`s a shame that the ECW is quite unpopular.
But nevermind...
@Axebreaker
Unfortnately I live near Düsseldorf and don`t have any ECW minis. The biggest reason is that my mates are not really interested in this period. But hey...the minis are cool (that`s the mainreason why I like historical miniatures)and so are the rules.At least the 1644 ones. Haven`t read the Warhammer ECW rules.

Thanks for the support :) ,but I mainly defended it so people wouldn\'t be turned off from reading about this period in english history. It was full of color and drama and can be fun to support one side or the other.You have a stubborn king,a religeous fanatic,stir in some crazed highlanders and some tempermental scots and you have a recipe for fun.Imagination is the key. Yes indeed I like the miniatures alot(Foundry)and same goes for me in that the period and available miniatures have to appeal to me.I have both sets of rules and I like each set of rules.Main difference on visual basis is 1644 the units are smaller so you can play larger battles with less miniatures.A bonus if you don\'t want to spend alot and paint up as much.With any luck perhaps we can change a few minds. ;) As far as the distance between us I don\'t think we would game on a regular basis(gasp)but maybe once in awhile or at a large tournement give a demo game to attract some gamers. :thumbsup: We can just keep it in mind and go from there.
