Napoleon at War

Sir Tobi:

--- Zitat ---Personally for myself, I just cannot absorb so many different rule sets of the same period in so short a space of time.

Same here. Even in a good month I can only manage one or two games these days - so it\'s hard enough to memorize two or three rulesets given that little practice. Why has everything to be new or changed all the time in these times? I know - asking these questions is a sure sign of getting old  :wissenschaftler: .

Curundil:
Same for me.
Read a couple of rules sets, found Lasalle to be perfect for me, happy ever since. The bunch of recently released Napo rule sets that hit the shelves after Lasalle offered nothing new, and - at least as far as I am concerned - nothing above what Lasalle offered. A pity the book is out of print. It\'s hard to spread the word via *.pdf ...
Anyway, the basing system of NaW seems pretty flexible and entirely Lasalle-compatible. The only thing I do not like about \"Rules+Miniatures\" projects like FoW is that the manufacturer tends to sell his minis custom-bundled for his own rules set only, making it pretty hard to add the odd fusilier here and there to accomodate other rules. No problem here, as long as the size matches an existing range (like AB, Fantassin, CGM etc.), but those NaW 18mm blokes seem pretty bulky to me. I\'ll wait and see.

--- Zitat ---Also, other periods less traveled would be nice as well sometimes

That is something that rarely happens because of economic reasons. Wargamers are flighty and have a short span of attention  . Most companies prefer the safe-selling mainstream conflicts even though the profit margin gets thinner due to the overcrowding of the market. It is still more promising than risky and even less profitable niche conflicts. Products for these periods depend on the recklessness and dedication of their originators rather than economic reason.

However, I agree with you. I like to see stuff outside the ever repeating  potpourri of Early Imperial Romans, Vikings, Normans, Napoleonics, ACW, Sudan, WW2, etc.
