sorry,
war wenn man den ersten post liest, bei dir ja auch nicht als solcher gedacht,

und der titel war wohl auch nicht aussagekräftig genug

sonst hätte ich mich ja daran erinnert

da ich es gleich im ersten post definiert habe was die intention ist, funktioniert der thread hier wohl besser,

Leider sehr last minute, aber er wird sicher in der nächsten Zeit nochmal Nachmittags oder so wiederholt:

Nachher um 23h45 auf Arte: \"Sturm über Asien\" (OT: Potomok Tschingis-Chana), ein Sowjet-Agitpropfilm von 1928 über die Mongolei im russischen Bürgerkrieg. Soll wohl ganz sehenswert sein. Ich werd ihn gleich aufzeichnen.

Heute kommt im HR, leider erst um 23:15, \"The Long Riders\". Nach meiner Erfahrung der mit Abstand vernünftigste Film über Jesse James. Mal davon abgesehen, daß ein Film von Walter Hill immer zumindest einen Blick wert ist.
Ich war damals schwer begeistert.

Wollt nur mal kurz drauf hinweisen das heut nacht auf Phoenix ab 0:30 mal wieder die 4 Teilige Doku

\"Mit Gottes Segen durch die Hölle\" wiederholt wird. Eine anständige Doku über den 30 Jährigen Krieg. Lief zwar auch schon dutzendmale aber vieleicht hats ja noch jemand nicht gesehen.

wobei ich jedem meinen respekt ausspreche der sich erst 1492 anschaut, udn dann noch schafft, waterloo zu ende zu schauen, ohne einzuschlafen

bei so riesenfilmen wie waterloo bevorzuge ich die dvd die man ja bei eby für 5-7€ hinterhergeschmissen kriegt

Am Freitag kommt \"Des Königs Admiral\", Raoul Walshs Verfilmung von Foresters Hornblower mit Gregory Peck. Hab ich als Kind gesehen und seitdem leider nie wieder. Wird allerdings zu einer haarsträubenden Zeit gesendet, vormittags um 10:45 auf Kabel 1.

Look at my list in the best war films thread ever made.I updated the list with the years the films were made to help you in deciding on what you want to see next. I hope that helps you out some.

Yes i looked at your list

Maybe 2/3 of it I´ve already seen

most of the movies there, which i have seen already are really good

Apart from the Movies

Braveheart (nice battles, but i don´t see it as a historic movie)
Troy  (the whole troy thing ist a mythologic story, so I won´t speak about history, but i don´t like the way they present the ilias)
Gladiator (good first battle, and some nice fights, but about the rest it is better not to speak about)
Enemy at the gates (the plot and the writing and speaking before the movie starts wants to give the impression that the story is real, but its 95% hollywood fiction, and alot of things are just stupid and wrong)

1/2 Alamo (I like John wayne, but i don´t like this version, the new alamo movie ist better)

I have to disagree.

Most things you stated you didn\'t like because of historical inaccuracies.Very few war films are accurate so try not and judge to hard.Also since around 1995 or so there have been very few pure war movies with no real side story.So,some of these movies most be given some slack.

Braveheart is without doubt a historical piece.Inaccurate, but a historical piece in that it tried to tell the story of Scotland\'s struggle against the English crown from the view of William Wallace.It also showed the brutal nature of combat fought at that time.It inspired many to study this period and led to televsion programs on the true story of William Wallace.

Troy is loaded with battles that try and show you what fighting was like at the time.I do like they way they humanized the people in the story.If they followed Homer the Characters would have been laughably godlike.It does carry alot of inaccuracies by portraying it more in the classical period and not earlier.Lets face it,the earlier period would have looked to funny on screen.so,in this case that can be overlooked.This also had a large impact in the wargaming world and in the general public drawing people in.At least they made it more believable then say 300! :puke:

Gladiator was a fantastic film from start to finish. :pump: Again,there are inaccuracies but this was overcome by the story itself.This movie has had a massive impact in drawing people into this time period in television and in wargaming.The battle scene is first rate in showing how the romens fought.It was without doubt a very inspirational movie and must be viewed this way.

Enemy at the gates is based on fact.Of course they got a few things wrong but in essence they told a true story.There was a famous russian sharpshooter that stalked Stalingrad I have forgotten the name it began with a V(Valastsky?or something)and the germans did send their best sharpshooter to deal with him and he was killed.(of course in a different way then the movie.)This movie showed just how brutal the conditions were at Stalingrad and had good combat scenes.

Alamo is personal taste I guess,I just like the older version more.
