Condottiere
 THE DOGS OF WAR
 In the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance, the great cities of Italy enjoyed a growth in wealth and power. As they absorbed the smaller villages and towns around them, they became true city-states, and inevitably came into conflict with each other. As the communal militias of the cities were amateurish and largely ineffective, the princes of the cities turned increasingly to mercenary captains to provide armies of experienced veterans. The contract with them was called a condotta, and so the military leader who worked under such a contract was a Condottiere. Condottiere allows you to re-fight battles from the Age of the Condottieri. The game aims for a high degree of playability and fun while still addressing the real tactical and leadership challenges of that age. These battle rules allow you to play pitched battles at a club meet or between several friends. Also, the campaign rules allow a larger group of players to conduct a series of battles, and gradually build up their forces. True to the spirit of the Condottieri, the campaign rules also provide many opportunities for deceit and betrayal, and only a clever combination of tactical skill and duplicitous double-dealing will enable the player to line his pockets with gold and build his reputation as a great Condottiere. The need for cunning and deceit, of course, makes it a nearly ideal pastime for a typical group of friendly gamers.

bin ein fan der alten GDW sachen und sehr gespannt auf dieses buch ... der ansatz eines campaign systems fuer die italienische \"renaissance\" interessiert mich am meisten
...und zum einen ist amazon.de endlich mal in der vorbestellung ok ... 30eu im gegensatz zu 40 bei foundry(ok .. warten bis zur naechsten 20% aktion

Wie immer teuer, auf der anderen Seite sind die Foundrybücher aber in der Regel auch ihr Geld wert  :S  ...

hört sich in der Tat interessant an und zu der Epoche gäbs auch ausgezeichnete Ranges in 15 & 28mm  :thumbup:
Bleibt die Frage nach den Spielmechanismen bzw. in welche Richtung sich das Ganze bewegt (WAB,FOG usw.)

fuer 160/170 seiten hardcover vollfarbig 30.- find ich noch ok ... was man bei foundry auch fast immer bekommt da sie alle nase lang einen sale haben

apropos teuer ... 25 pfund fuer 76 seiten vollfarbig softcover wird auch bezahlt, wie fuer die neuen SAGA regeln von gripping beast .. plus noch 12pfund fuer ein wuerfelset (was jede fraktion ihr eigenes hat) wenn man es sich nicht do-it-yourself basteln moechte

Im Unterschied etwa zu \"Napoleon\", das als Regelwerk ja wohl ein Schnellschuss war, ist Frank Chadwick einer der angesehensten US-Wargaming-Designer (Volley & Bayonet, Command Decision, Space: 1889). Von daher ist es sicher lohnend, sich diese Regeln mal anzuschauen.

Daher gehen die Regeln sicher nicht Richtung WAB o.ä.

Book looks good and period is very nice as the market hasn\'t explored it much yet :thumbsup: , but it\'s very expensive :sm_pirate_stumm: and the figures they made for it are very sub standard! :negativ:

Bei einem vollfarbigen Hardcover-170-Seiter finde ich den Preis okay, immerhin ist es kein Bestseller, sondern ein Tabletopbuch. Weiß jetzt nicht, was hier für Maßstäbe angelegt werden, aber wenn ich mir z.B. \"Hail Cesar\", \"Lasalle\" oder andere Hardcover angucke, die rangieren alle irgendwo in der Größenordnung, solange das Buch nicht zu einem absoluten Mainstream-Kracher gehört.

Zum Thema Preisschock, den hatte ich letzte Woche, als ich den Fehler gemacht habe, mal zu gucken, was DBMM 2 so kostet - das ist mal ein überteuerter Wisch ohne adäquaten Mehrwert.  :cursing:  \"Condottiere\" sehe ich als absolut im Rahmen an. Man sehe sich an, was einschlägige Traditionsschreiber für ihre schwarz-weißen Bleiwüsten verlangen, oder meinetwegen, was das ringgebundene Pappheftchen \"Impetus\" kostet.

Finde 30 euro für ein vollfarbiges Hardcoverbuch absolut im Rahmen, wenn nicht sogar schon im unteren Preissegment für ein derartiges release  :sm_pirat_confused:
Bei der dazugehörigen Figurenrange ist leider nur die Skulpingqualität bescheiden ausgefallen, aber um die gehts ja hier nicht; zudem es ja genug Alternativen gibt.
