Leichte Läufer + Operation Seelöwe

Zitat
Colonel Sigred Von Thaler pressed her lips together; it was her version of a smile. She watched as the second wave of Allied infantry broke under another blast of fire from Heinrich. Overpowering the enemy was her favorite way to do battle. She turned to admonish Manfred for doubting the success of their campaign, when she heard a roaring blast. Sigred looked back in time to see her own troops retreating. An Allied Walker advanced upon them, and it had...a phaser.

Fantasy Flight Games is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of two new Walker expansions for Dust Tactics, the tactical miniatures board game of explosive battlefield combat! The Light Assault Walker and the Light Panzer Walker (for your Allied or Axis forces, respectively) bring agility and deadly weapon systems to your Dust Tactics troops.

New Firepower

With the Allied forces heralding formidable units into the fray, Axis players will want to expand their armies to include a walker with multiple cannons for a broad range attack or a laser cannon to target Allied squads. The Light Panzer Walker body can be customized to either Heinrich or Hermann, both offering advantages for any Axis general to bring onto the battlefield.

With one of the most deadly weapon systems seen since the beginning of the war, the Panzer AufkclarerLaufer 1-A, aka “Heinrich” can crush an entire squad, whether or not it’s equipped with heavy armor. Heinrich’s incredible firepower derives from its four powerful FlaKvierling cannons. The Panzer AufkclarerLaufer 1-A is also versatile enough to use against lightly armored targets or engage enemies from a great distance, due to it being a light and agile vehicle.

The Axis’ newest light footed anti-tank robot, Hermann, elicits the same uneasiness in your opponent as Heinrich. With a revolutionary laser cannon Hermann can easily destroy targets much heavier than itself. Entering into a long engagement? Partner Hermann with your other Axis units, like a Recon Grenadiers squad, to both protect it and utilize it for a lengthy battle. If you’re looking to annihilate your opponent early in the game, find Hermann a secure position and use its sustained fire to waste any Allied armored unit.

Swift Action

An Allied general, desiring glory on the battlefield for himself and his nation, must bring the best of the best to the front lines. The newest Dust Tactics Light Assault Walkers, Wildfire and Honey, provide players with a multitude of advantages.

Created by Allied scientists, Wildfire’s dreadful weapon system will be a match for any Axis weaponry. The four heavy machine guns that top this light-weight robot fire simultaneously, delivering a deluge of firepower that lights up the darkest battlefield. Axis infantry and light vehicles will fall under the cloud of bullets that Wildfire strikes them with again and again. Eager for a speedy offensive? Use this Light Assault Walker’s high mobility and incredible agility to take a careless enemy by surprise.

There is nothing sweet about Honey except for its name. With a new next-generation phaser weapon system, this anti-tank is ready to erase your enemy from the board. With its superior system that can even engage heavy targets, Honey is an ideal vanguard of any Allied offensive. Want to blast your enemy with synchronized attacks? Honey was made to cooperate with other Allied troops, like Recon Rangers. Unify the strike by using Honey to attack the armored targets, while you have other Allied units fight against the Axis infantry.

With exciting and incredible abilities, these new Walker expansions will blast energy into your Dust Tactics experience. Check back for more information about these exciting new walkers for Dust Tactics, and get ready to take the offensive!

“The weather forecast guys were wrong again. It’s too cloudy, too windy. We are going to lose many soldiers in the parachuting. And these new airplanes make too much noise-the English will hear us coming from kilometers away.”
-Manfred Kreuzer

The Allies are desperate; they face catastrophic losses across the coast of Great Britain. Dover is in ruins, overrun by Axis Walkers, Brighton is beset by Axis barges, Portsmouth has fallen, with Southampton to follow. With the situation so dire, the Allied forces have no choice but to split their focus, sending Her Majesty’s fleet to face the Axis Kriegsmarine in the Channel, and leaving the naval base at Scapa Flow defenseless...or so it seems.

Fantasy Flight Games is thrilled to announce the upcoming expansion for Dust Tactics, Operation “SeeLöwe!” An epic battle awaits you off the northeast coast of Scotland, at Scapa Flow. While the Allies rush to finish the development of a revolutionary new type of aircraft carrier, the secret Axis organization, Blutkreuz Korps, has deployed to Scapa Flow with one mission: capture the new ship or destroy it! But the Blutkreuz Korps are unaware that a special division of ASOCOM is stationed at the naval base. They will prove a difficult challenge for the Axis forces.

Operation “SeeLöwe” offers players eight new exciting scenarios that tell the story of the attack on Scapa Flow and its defenses. New tiles introduce buildings into the game, offering players new tactical decisions in an urban environment. New rules and new heroes further immerse you into this stimulating expedition.

Top Secret Origins

Also included in Operation “SeeLöwe” is the never-before-read history of the Axis and one of the cornerstones of their forces: the Blutkreuz Korps. Discover how and why this secret organization was born, and what motivates their sinister quest for absolute power. Uncover truths known only to a select Axis few, such as the conspiracy surrounding Hitler’s death.

Operation “SeeLöwe” welcomes two new heroes to the war:

Ozz 117

While Ozz 117’s real name is unknown, he is one of the most active agents for the Allied forces. Equipped with the new Heavy Ranger armor, he is dangerously strong on the battlefield. Combining his Rocket Punch skill with his new Heroic Attack ability could change the course of battle in an instant. Also possessing the Jump skill, Ozz 117 is ready to handle the new building terrain. Ozz 117 believes the future of warfare will be based on his new armor; test him out and see if you agree.

Markus

Desperate to create a herculean subject that could withstand space travel, Axis scientists created Markus, the first successful specimen of their genetic experiments. With Markus’ amazing potential and an unachieved space program, The Blutkreuz Korps redirected Markus into combat. As a “war gorilla,” he is both capable of annihilating the enemy with his inhuman strength or his steel combat weapons and panzer gloves. Highly intelligent, this genetically-altered ape can use the new Charge and Blutkreuz Ape skills against his opponents.

Operation “SeeLöwe” will introduce a new level of strategy to your Dust Tactics gaming experiences. The scenarios included have no fixed amount of army points, allowing players to practice a different form of campaign customization. With an Allied hero with super strength and the first inhuman hero spawned by Axis experiments, this operation assures that the battlefield will never be the same.

Be on the lookout for updates on Operation “SeeLöwe” in the coming weeks, and be prepared to take the battle indoors!

A Massive Serving of Damage

The BBQ Squad is an elite group of assault rangers, equipped with brutal firepower. Use them correctly, and they become one of the most powerful units in your arsenal. With Shotguns, a Flamethrower, and Demo Charges, the BBQ Squad is capable of destroying opposing infantry and tanks.

Although these rangers only have a weapon range of 1, they are specialists in close range combat, and their weapon range is counteracted by their Fast ability, which allows them to move an additional space each turn. Currently they are the infantry squad in the game with this ability.

After utilizing the Fast ability to set your rangers up in an adjoining square, annihilate a tank with one hit from your Flamethrower. Or dominate the fight against other infantry units; the BBQ Squad is able to roll more dice against other units; in fact they can roll up to 17 dice against an opposing squad of five soldiers.

With four Shotguns, one Flamethrower, and five Demo Charges, the BBQ Squad is an intimidating threat. These Demo Charges are useful against tanks, making these rangers the best Allied anti-tank weapon in game.

This firepower provides the BBQ Squad with numerous different combinations, allowing them to destroy a combination of tanks and squads in a single round. For example, these rangers could destroy two tanks and an infantry squad in one turn depending on movement and enemy placement.

With such destructive powers your BBQ Squad may become a popular Axis target. To prevent their demise combine their movement with a Recon Rangers Squad, who provide them with cover fire and set them up for an advantageous strike.

Mix in One Hero

Embed the BBQ Squad with one of the Allies’ powerful heroes to provide them with even more battle advantages and with survivability. Heroes provide squads with four extra wounds that will soak up some of the damage meant for the rangers. Players can choose from Captain Joseph Brown, Master Sergeant Rosie Donovan, or the upcoming Johnny One-Eye, currently available as a preview figure in Game Night kits.

Captain Joseph Brown is ready to provide the BBQ Squad with his Grenade Launcher and his Black Ops ability. Black Ops will provide the BBQ Squad and the entire Allied forces with an extra die to roll to determine who wins the initiative. Use this ability to begin the round then combine your Flamethrower with Joe’s Grenade Launcher to destroy units under any cover.

Master Sergeant Rosie Donovan, the most well known Sergeant of the whole Allied army, will bring you her handy Tank Head repair skills and more incredible firepower with her giant Bazooka. Use her Bazooka along with the BBQ Squad’s other anti-tank weaponry to further decimate the Axis’ tanks.

Perhaps the most advantageous hero to join the BBQ Squad would be Johnny One-Eye. Using his Badass skill while commanding your assault rangers provides all of them with unlimited ammo! Though this skill does not affect the number of weapons a player can use per activation, the Badass skill provides this squad with unlimited Demo Charges, and a possible battlefield of tanks to decimate.

“Ready, Frank? Johnny?”
Both of the other soldiers in Sam’s squad nodded. He readjusted his grip on his bazooka then activated his jetpack. They rose slowly off the ground, then gaining speed, quickly scaled the building in front of them.
“There,” Sam muttered into his walkie. The Axis soldiers had taken cover in the building’s doorway. He aimed. “Fire!”

(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/Gorillas%20and%20Reapers/box-grim-reapers-left.png)(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/Gorillas%20and%20Reapers/box-tank-busters-right.png)

Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the upcoming release of the Allied Grim Reapers and Tank Busters, two new expansions for Dust Tactics! Add the speed and power of these heavy ranger squads to your Allied forces!

A swift advantage

When failure against Axis technology is not an option, Allied scientists are at their best. Seeking to bring forth the destruction of their enemies and provided with vast resources, these scientists created the most modern of technologies: heavy combat armor and reactors. When a few fearless volunteers were equipped with them the Grim Reapers were born.

Named for the death their touch promises, these Allied soldiers attack from above. With the Jump ability and a movement of two, the Grim Reapers can deploy and sweep across the battlefield to reach and destroy any Axis infantry or walker. Players can also use their speed together with Jump to fly over buildings (introduced in Operation “SeeLöwe”), an advantage their Axis enemies have yet to access.

The Grim Reapers are also equipped with dangerous weaponry: Victory MG duals and Rocket Punches. Use the Victory MG duals to deal damage from afar then fly in close and use their turbo-charged fists to K.O. the enemy.

Make good use of their skills to effectively bring an early death to Axis units.

How to destroy a walker

Like their Grim Reaper comrades, the new Allied Tank Busters are equipped with the most modern technology the Allies have at their disposal. These forceful and stoic soldiers have seen too many their compatriots fall under the destructive onslaught of the Axis walkers and plan to use their superior armor and weaponry to cause as much Axis carnage as possible.

(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/Gorillas%20and%20Reapers/grim-reapers.png)(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/Gorillas%20and%20Reapers/tank-busters.png)

The new Allied Tank Busters seem to be a contradiction; despite their heavy combat armor they are able to move across the battlefield quickly. The Tank Busters’ specialty is to function as highly effective anti-armor units.

Each member is equipped with a reactor-fueled bazooka that can waste enemy armored vehicles. Take advantage of their speed to reach an enemy walker no matter where it hides; they are able to ignore obstacles in their path by flying over them! Should their bazookas fail them, these unbelievably strong individuals can punch through a walker’s armor during close combat.

Axis Gorillas und Axis Zombies

“Did you hear that?” Sigrid hissed.
“Nein,” the officer mumbled. The Baron’s daughter made him uncomfortable.
“Idiot,” Sigrid whispered, but the officer heard it nonetheless. “I’m sure I heard something. Prepare the apes and the Untertoten.”
“But Colonel...” he did not want to go near those things again, they weren’t normal. They were...unholy.

(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/Gorillas%20and%20Reapers/box-axis-gorillas-left.png)(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/Gorillas%20and%20Reapers/box-axis-zombies-right.png)

Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Axis Gorillas and Axis Zombies, two new expansions for Dust Tactics! Both expansions bring inhuman advantages against Allied units. The Axis Gorillas are extraordinarily strong while the Axis Zombies are fearless and resilient to damage.

A fistful of tank

The secret laboratories of the Blutkreuz Korps have produced effective combat units in the past, but none have been considered works of art until the “KampfsAffen” Program yielded the Axis Gorillas. Genetically altered for an increased mental capacity, these specimens also possess both Herculean strength and bestial savagery that they are forced to direct against Allied targets in battle.

These inhuman fighters cast dread into the hearts of Allied soldiers when they charge into the fray. However, the Axis’ poor treatment of these creatures puts their side at risk of reprisal. Could an ape revolt be brewing?

Axis Gorillas have the Blutkreuz Ape ability, which means only a hero with this same ability can join their squad. Luckily for the Axis Gorillas, their fearsome and intelligent leader Markus (available in Operation “SeeLöwe”) can join his simian brothers.

Allied units are advised to kill Axis Gorillas on sight or keep a distance as their monstrous attacks are brutal enough to destroy both squads and walkers of any strength in close combat. Don’t be surprised to see a pack of enraged gorillas tearing apart an Allied walker with sickening ease.

With their Fast ability Allied troops can be certain that it won’t be long before the Axis Gorillas are on top of them.

(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/Gorillas%20and%20Reapers/axis-gorillas-1.png)(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/Gorillas%20and%20Reapers/axis-zombies.png)

Resurrected Units

In the wake of Germany’s invasion of Stalingrad, where hundreds of thousands of soldiers had been lost or grievously injured, the Axis leaders turned to the extremes of science. From the labs of the Blutkreuz Korps comes a horrific solution: Wiederbeleben Serum. When this elixir is injected into the corpses of fallen soldiers, it not only reanimates them but grants them incredible resilience. With the Axis Zombies, the Axis now has plenty of new troops for the front lines.

These nightmarish creatures are one of the most powerful units of the Axis. Allied units are advised to use all available resources against these living corpses as they can destroy both squads of soldiers and powerful walkers in close combat.

The Blutkreuz Korps overestimated the tolerance of the majority of the soldiers in the Axis army to their resurrected war companions; many soldiers have deserted their positions. The Axis Zombies possess the Blutkreuz Zombie ability and can only be joined by a hero with the same ability, and so far only the Blutkreuz Korps can withstand the presence of these corpse warriors.

Despite their simple minds, the Blutkreuz Korps needs these undead soldiers to focus on only one objective, annihilating the enemy. With their Fast ability, the Axis Zombies can easily close in on their targets. Allied commanders will need to adapt quickly to these new enemies as they are both mindlessly fearless and sometimes appear impervious to gunfire.

Dust Warfare

Allied Captain Joseph Brown looked out the window of his building at the devastated streets of Scapa Flow beyond. Smoke and fire issued from the battered husks of buildings. He kept his eyes open for signs of the enemy. Soon enough, a line of fearsome Axis combat walkers thundered with each step as they strode up the alley. Captain Brown loaded a grenade into his launcher and signaled to his troops…

Fantasy Flight Games is excited to announce the upcoming release of Dust Warfare, designed by renowned miniatures guru Andy Chambers! Our intent to launch a Dust tabletop miniatures game was announced even before Dust Tactics was released. Now the success of Dust Tactics has paved the way for us to take the next step. Currently in beta, this tactical tabletop miniatures game of alternate 1940s reality World War II combat will demo throughout Gen Con Indy 2011.

World War II with alien technology

The year is 1947, and World War II still rages, fueled by the discovery of alien technology. The world’s superpowers have developed unprecedented weaponry, including lasers, phaser cannons, and massive combat walkers. These war machines stride across the battlefield, protected by their heavy armor, and devastate enemy troops with their fearsome cannons.

Dust Warfare players assume the roles of generals, each commanding a custom-built army of squads, walkers, and heroes. Draw upon Axis might or Allied versatility as you wage ferocious battles for control of the rare ore, VK, needed to fuel the most powerful of the superpowers’ weapons.

Double the bang for your buck

Dust Warfare players build armies from the exact same set of miniatures as Dust Tactics. This means that if you already own a Dust Tactics army, all you need is the Dust Warfare rulebook. All the stunning Dust Tactics miniatures will be useable for Dust Warfare immediately upon its release, and as both games go forward, they will continue to draw from the same wealth of fantastically detailed miniatures.

Current fans of Dust Tactics will recognize the furious combat, strategic scenarios, and gorgeous miniatures. Players new to the world of Dust are in for a treat.

Dust Tactics introduced rules for fast, intense combats featuring combat walkers, bazookas, flamethrowers, and lasers. Dust Warfare builds upon the board game’s rules and strengths to offer players an exciting new game experience with the tactical and strategic challenges of a tabletop miniatures game.

Fantasy Flight Games has exciting plans for the Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare lines, and players who pick up Dust Tactics miniatures find their new units immediately useable for play in both games!

Command your army from start to finish

Designed by Andy Chambers, the Dust Warfare rulebook introduces unprecedented player engagement. Players first get drawn into the action during the Command Phase, where you have to choose how to spend command points during an escalating battle. You might spend command points early and often to advance and sustain an early lead, or you might save them up for dramatic late-game effects that may decisively turn the tide of battle. The Command Phase presents players with the chance to exert their influence and command style upon the field of battle in an engaging new way.

Players have the chance to activate all their forces during the Unit Phase, and reaction mechanics keep you fully engaged throughout your opponent’s turns. As enemy units close in on yours or begin to open fire, you can choose to spend actions from your next turn to react. Keen commanders will make good use of their reaction options. They will also learn how best to feint and bait their opponents to react, draining them of available actions.

As the battle heats up and casualties mount, you need to keep a sharp eye toward your army’s morale. The constant barrage of enemy fire can suppress your units or even force them to retreat. You may try to lay suppression fire even when you can’t destroy your enemy’s unit. Sometimes, just pinning them down can give you the edge you need.

Join the battle

Dust Warfare takes the rules and miniatures you love from Dust Tactics and expands upon them in exciting new ways to bring gritty, alternate-reality WWII action to your tabletop.

If you’re attending Gen Con Indy 2011, be sure to stop by our Exhibit Hall booth to catch a demo of this fast and furious miniatures game.

The future looks bright for both Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare. Keep scouting this page for advance intelligence on the Dust Warfare: Core Rulebook, and offer your analysis of allied and enemy troop movement to other commanders in our community forum.

Dust Warfare is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2011.

The Dust Warfare rules have been developed directly from Dust Tactics so if you\'re familiar with the mechanics for the board game the transition to tabletop will be very straightforward. The addition of reactions and an all new turn sequence are the biggest differences between the two. As a side note I\'m also a big Squad Leader fan from back in the day and I\'ve tried to re-capture some of that feel for Dust Warfare (thought not the mechanics!).

Andy Chambers wrote: I should also add that I think the benefits of IGO UGO outweigh its detriments when balanced off by a reaction system. Have no fear, you won\'t be sitting on your hands during your opponent\'s turn.

Es wurde gefragt, ob die Reaktionen ähnlich denen von Infinity sind:

Andy Chambers wrote:sort of, but not really. Units which opt to react pays one of their future actions to do so, so there\'s an opportunity cost to make a reaction (usually worth it, but there is a cost). Suppression also plays a role. Unless I\'m reading Infinity wrong (which I may be) AROs are something you always do?

Four Luther medium panzer walkers patrolled outside the Axis ammo dump when the first Allied Fireball approached. The pilots in their Luthers opened fire, but their weapons barely slowed the strange, six-legged walker. Outside the gates, the Allied tank hit the anti-tank traps and bulldozed right through them. The Fireball sprayed machine gun fire from its turret to keep the Axis troops at bay, but the Luther pilots couldn’t understand why it didn’t fire its main cannon… Then the first Luther got too close, and the Fireball unleashed a tremendous gout of flame that incinerated the Axis walker and its pilot within seconds.

After unveiling these amazing new miniatures at Gen Con Indy 2011, Fantasy Flight Games is now thrilled to announce the upcoming release of the Allied Heavy Assault Walker and the Axis Heavy Panzer Walker!

Protected by the heaviest armor ever developed and wielding massive firepower capable of reducing opposing units to rubble, these heavy walkers provide players exciting strategic options for their games of Dust Tactics.

Burn, baby, burn!

After the Axis forces assaulted them with heavier and heavier walkers, the Allies made a point of showing they, too, can build fearsome engines of destruction, as heavy as anything thrown against them. The Heavy Assault Walker miniature can be customized in either of two configurations, the Punisher and the Fireball.

The Punisher is the heaviest walker the Allies have ever produced, with twin 155mm howitzers to pummel heavily armored walkers and a number of .50 cal and .30 cal machine guns to lay waste to enemy squads foolish enough to approach.

The Fireball adheres to the Allies’ traditional strengths–speed, versatility, and lethal attacks at close range. Its deadly Napalm Thrower launches fiery doom at a greater range than ever before, and those fires can consume nearly any enemy unit in a single hit.

To maneuver into position to launch attacks, both configurations of the Heavy Assault Walker carry Dozer Blades, which can level anti-tank traps. Additionally, both configurations of the Heavy Assault Walker can carry friendly squad members, shielding their movement from enemy fire along the way to vital locations.

Raw firepower

Build the Axis Heavy Panzer Walker into one of its two possible configurations, and you’ll be able to batter your opponents at any range. Both the Königs-Luther and the Sturm-König feature massive cannons, capable of punching any armor on the battlefield.

With its dual 17.3 cm FpK, the Königs-Luther is a formidable weapon, easily among the most fearsome in the war. The heaviest variant of the Luther, the Königs-Luther sometimes wins battles even before firing its first shot; so terrifying is its raw firepower that many enemy tank commanders simply refuse to fight it without support from their mightiest walkers. Even when joined in battle by multiple opponents, the Königs-Luther features a frame and armor heavy enough to buy Axis reinforcements time to arrive.

The second configuration of the Heavy Panzer Walker, the Sturm-König excels at defending troops as they move into position. Less resilient than the Königs-Luther, the Sturm-König provides Axis commanders different strategic options with its Advanced Reactive Fire skill. Similarly, its 12.8 cm FlakVierling may not hit as hard as the Königs-Luther, but the Sturm-König fills the air with such a sheer volume of fire that few units can withstand its sustained barrage.

Hit them hard

Prepare to take control of these heavy walkers when they advance on the battlefront in the Fourth Quarter of 2011. It’s better to set their sights on your enemy’s units than to find your forces staring them in the barrels!

The Tank Busters stood amid the bodies of fallen Axis soldiers and surveyed the battlefield. “Heavy walkers at seven o’clock,” Sam called through his walkie. The sounds of cannon fire roared around the Tank Busters as they flipped the switches for their jetpacks to jump. Suddenly, an arm shot up from the ground and grabbed hold of Sam’s foot. “What the...?” More arms shot up. Frank was dragged to the ground.
“They’re not staying dead!” Johnny shouted as gauntleted fists slammed into his armor…

Punch big holes in enemy walkers with two new squads for Dust Tactics and Dust Tactics Premium, now on sale! Head to your local retailer or visit our webstore today to purchase your copies of the Allied Tank Busters or Axis Zombies.
Busting tanks since 1947

In the alternate 1947 reality of Dust Tactics, World War II continues to pit the world’s great powers against each other, fueled by the discovery of alien technology and the need to control supplies of VK, the rare ore necessary to power the most powerful weapons and devastating combat walkers. As both Allied and Axis forces send more and more powerful walkers to the battlefront, Allied commanders recognize the increasing importance of arming elite squads to target and eliminate Axis walkers.

The Tank Busters are a cost-effective answer to the bigger Axis walkers. With their M10 bazookas and rocket punches, the Tank Busters can blast through the heaviest armor in the game. Not only do their bazookas hit hard, their Jump skill allows them to maneuver into optimal position to catch enemy walkers in their sights.

Better off dead[

Since the 1938 Axis expedition to the Antarctic resulted in the discovery of the long-lived Vrill, the Blutkreuz Korps were given almost unlimited resources to experiment on Vrill bodies to replicate and adapt their longevity to human beings. Their efforts proved unsuccessful, at least until Professor Stefan Priapinski inadvertently tested the latest version of his serum on a soldier who had actually died. After a few minutes, the dead body rose again and began to destroy everything around it. The dead soldier ran about uncontrolled until two full squads of Sturmgrenadieren were brought in to “kill” this soldier a second time.

(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/news/tank-busters-zombies-nos/tank-busters.png)(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/news/tank-busters-zombies-nos/axis-zombies.png)

Thus was born the Wiederbelebungsserum, and the Axis Zombies soon followed. Scarcely kept under Axis control, even their allied soldiers fear the Zombies, meaning only Blutkreuz Zombie heroes will deign to join forces with the savage creations. Still, once unleashed, these unholy terrors rush across the battlefield to batter opposing troops and tanks with their panzer gloves. Few forces can withstand a full barrage from this fearsome squad.

Powerful squads for urban battles

As it is true in war, it’s true in Dust Tactics that powerful machines and weapons can give your side an advantage, but it’s your soldiers that win a war. While the battle at Scapa Flow spills through the streets and into the nearby buildings and hangars, it becomes all the more important for both Allied and Axis forces to field the strongest possible squads.
Strengthen your army today with the addition of the Allied Tank Busters and the Axis Zombies, available now at your local retailer and on our webstore for both Dust Tactics and the beautifully painted Dust Tactics Premium.

NCO Command Squads Lead from the Frontlines (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=2662)

Announcing two new Dust Tactics Heavy Command Squads

Johnny remembered catching a stray laser in the stomach. He remembered dropping as the world went black… He woke up with a grizzled
face staring at him. The Corps Officer Field Medic was holding a needle in his hand, tucking it back into a first aid kit on the side of his
battle suit. The Field Medic was shouting at him over the sound of rifle fire. “Son! That scratch ain’t nothing a good bandage and a weekend
with a beautiful woman can’t fix. Now get up, Johnny! It ain’t that bad.”

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of two new command squads for Dust Tactics (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=123&enmi=Dust%20Tactics), the Allied Corps Officers and the Axis Heavy Kommandotrupp. These squads will add new vitality to your Dust Tactics armies and, as always, will see simultaneous release from our Dust Tactics Premium (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=131&enmi=Dust%20Tactics%20Premium%20Edition) line, outfitting them with stunning, professional paint work.
Fierce urban battles rage along the southern coast of Great Britain. In Southampton, Portsmouth, and Brighton, Allied soldiers battle Axis
walkers in close combat, and both sides rely upon the guidance of these heavily armored commanders who lead from the front lines.
Both of these NCO Command Squads feature three dramatically sculpted, armored miniatures and add versatility to your armies with handy new skills
defined in the Operation “Cerberus” (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=2647) rulebook. Their battle suits let them shrug off small arms fire while they call in artillery strikes, repair walkers, boosting troops to tremendous feats, and heal injured soldiers.

Corps Officers
(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/command/box-core-officer-left.png)
The Allied Corps Officers squad for Dust Tactics
serves fearlessly with their heavy battle suits and high-tech weaponry.
The members of this Allied NCO Command Squad have been around for years
and have always managed to bring their men back.
As an NCO Command Squad, the Corps Officers make all your Allied units better as a savvy general knows when to draw upon each of the squad’s powerful skills. Calling in artillery fire and getting fallen soldiers back on their feet, the Corps Officers can provide the extra bit of inspiration your troops need to achieve victory.
The Corps Officers
are no slouches in combat, either. With their flamethrower, dual Victory MGs, and rocket punches, these soldiers can put a hurting on enemy squads or walkers, both.
Heavy Kommandotrupp
(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/command/box-hk-right.png)
On the other side of the battle, the Axis Heavy Kommandotrupp march to the front lines in their protective battle suits and blast at
soldiers and walkers with their Fliegerfaust burst weapon and twin MG44.
In the chaos of battle, this powerful new squad provides clear direction for other troops, and when Allied forces think they’re getting the upper
hand, the Heavy Kommandotrupp can provide them with unwelcome surprises. Able to patch up wounded soldiers and get them battle ready, the Heavy Kommandotrupp also has the ability to boost their allies with potent, untested chemicals. Though the side effects aren’t yet known, the Axis are
wasting no time in making use of these chemicals on the field of battle where they can accelerate soldiers actions far beyond normal human rates
of movement.
Stunning miniatures
Dust Tactics continues to provide some of the most eye-catching miniatures available, and each of these squads features three distinct, sculpted
miniatures that will bring your games to life. Futhermore, as with all Dust Tactics miniatures, both the Corps Officers and Heavy Kommandotrupp will be available as professionally painted squads from our Dust Tactics Premium line and will be legal for use in Dust Warfare (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_minisite.asp?eidm=173&enmi=Dust%20Warfare).
Look for these exciting new command squads to lead your troops to victory when they come out in the Fourth Quarter of 2011!

New Heroes Lead the Charge

FFG kündigt die Heldenpacks an!

Zitat
Bullets ripped through the air as the Allied Wildfire maneuvered to get a better line of fire at the onrushing zombies. Already, the wave of zombies had ripped through two infantry squads and a Pounder. The Wildfire pilot pulled the trigger, and tore into two zombies. “Stay down!” she muttered as they hit the ground. As she wondered what it took to stop them, she heard gunfire back down the alley. Then it stopped, followed only by a loud buzz and whine. She turned to see a pack of zombies rushing forward, led by one with a massive circular saw…

Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the next wave of Dust Tactics heroes! Two new expansions increase your tactical options for Allied and Axis armies alike. Both the Allied Hero Pack and Axis Hero Pack present three fantastic Heroes ready to join your squads or lead the charges on their own.

A deader breed of hero

The new Axis Hero Pack allows players to guide their Axis Zombie units with one (or both) of two new Heroes with the Blutkreuz Zombie skill. Shrugging off small arms fire with his Damage Resilient skill, Grenadier X flings himself into Close combat with his circular saw where he cuts into troops and walkers indiscriminately. Any Allied forces that don’t fall to Grenadier X and any zombie squad he joins may find themselves concerned by the sinister presence of TotenMeister. Not only did this Blutkreuz Korps experiment manage to cheat death and become both Damage Resilient and ferociously strong, but her supply of Wiederbelebungsserum allows her to recover from nearly any wound. With their unholy strength, these Heroes lend resilience to any Axis army, with or without squads of Axis Zombies to join them.

Additionally, the Axis Hero Pack introduces Stefan, a deadly Oberleutnant who uses some of the Allies’ most effective tricks against them, literally fighting fire with fire with his Flammenwerfer 40.

If you didn’t get Stefan or TotenMeister from our previous Game Night Kits, you’ll soon have the chance to see why everyone has been clamoring for their general release. These Heroes greatly expand your tactical options.

Allied in their response

Though they each come from different backgrounds and though they each pursue their own methods, the famous warriors of the Allied Hero Pack all share a talent for wiping out Axis units. Action Jackson and Johnny One-Eye have already seen limited release through our Game Night Kits, and now you’ll soon get the chance to to inspire your armies with these dynamic leaders.

Action Jackson drops onto the battlefield as a British paratrooper, armored in a high-tech ASOCOM battle suit and equipped with two 60W Phaser Guns. Phaser technology may still be new, but when it all comes together, Action Jackson can blast through even the heaviest Axis walkers in a single instant.

Meanwhile, The Priest prefers to operate up close and personal, where he’s a sly expert with his dynamite charges, and Johnny One-Eye may not be the first badass to walk the Dust Tactics battlefields, but he’s the first Hero with the skill to prove it. His Badass skill means he’s not the type of guy who likes running out of ammunition while Axis forces close in around him. Johnny One-Eye and any squad he joins gain unlimited uses of their limited ammunition weapons.

Bigger personalities for bigger battles

World War II continues to heat up as Allied forces rally for a desperate defense of Southern England in the alternate reality of Dust Tactics. While the battles rage and both sides suffer casualties, the new Axis and Allied Hero Packs provide your armies with exciting new reinforcements and inspirational leadership.

Meanwhile, keep your eyes open next week for an article that will reveal the details about the Heroes for our next Game Night Kits.

If you can’t attend Game Nights, or if you’ve missed any of these exciting Heroes, don’t fret. The Allied Hero Pack and Axis Hero Pack are scheduled to release in the first quarter of 2012! As always, these products will see simultaneous release in our Dust Tactics Premium line, where you can get the same outstanding miniatures professionally pre-painted.

Operation Cerberus Erweiterung

Zitat
Back in September, we announced a new Dust Tactics expansion named Operation “Cerberus.” In this third campaign expansion, the Axis forces have launched a massive invasion of Southern England. Gigantic walkers lumber through the streets as armored troops entrench themselves into the rubble and prepare for close-quarter urban warfare.

One of the additions in Operation “Cerberus” is rules for multilevel structures. This is an exciting development for Dust Tactics as buildings add a whole new measure of strategy to the game. moreover, the rules governing structures are intuitive, and you will be mowing down enemies from the rooftops in no time.

Gaining the upper hand

Squads taking position in a building gain a huge strategic advantage. In general, units inside buildings have a better line of sight to enemies, and have a significant amount of protection from incoming fire, since units inside a building count as being in heavy cover to units outside of the building. These benefits alone are enough to make lightly armored troop gravitate towards the safety a large structure can provide.

In fact, there are even more rewards for occupying buildings in Dust Tactics. Units shooting out of a building get to ignore height when calculating range. For example, a squad of Death Dealers on the third floor of a building with range 4 weapons can target a unit four spaces away and on the ground, even though they are technically more than four spaces away when accounting for height.

Also, a unit in a building higher than ground level counts as being an additional space away from troops outside the building. For instance, if a unit of Heavy Laser Grenadiers wants to return fire at the Death Dealers from the previous example, they would have to be within three spaces (Schwer Laser-Werfer is a range 4 weapon) because of the one space penalty for shooting at targets higher than ground level. As these examples illustrate, controlling multi-level buildings is quite important in Dust Tactics.

Considering close combat

Units in buildings also have some protection from close combat units. Since range C weapons cannot be used to attack a squad higher or lower than the attacking squad, close combat units are forced to get onto the same level as their target, giving defenders occupying higher levels of structures ample opportunity to mow the enemy down as they approach. This means your Allied squads now have a way to protect themselves from those punchy Axis Zombie and Gorilla squads

To make battles even more intense, Operation “Cerberus” contains rules for fighting inside of buildings. Units inside of buildings can engage with units on levels that are one floor higher or lower than they are. Troops can fire blindly through walls, floors, and ceilings in hopes of delivering damage to units that are holed up inside the structure.

Operation “Cerberus” delivers rules for using multilevel structures are straight-forward, fast-paced, and create an added level of strategy. What’s even better, it comes with the amazing set of interlocking pieces with over 60 parts that can be used to assemble a host of different buildings in all kinds of shapes and sizes. This set is sure to be a hit with Dust Tactics players and will have you engaging in urban warfare in no time.

Multilevel buildings are but one of the exciting new features of Operation “Cerberus.” In our next preview, we will take a look at the heroes of this expansion. Until then, keep checking in for more information about the upcoming Dust Tactics expansion, and prepare for the battle over the English shores that starts later this quarter.

I know it sounds unbelievable, but it really happened! On my mother’s grave, an Italian cook killed everyone else in my squad. He had two flame throwers and... No, I swear to you, this really happened!
      - Interpreted transcript from an unknown Axis Soldier’s interrogation

In the last Operation “Cerberus” preview, we looked at some strategies for using multi-level buildings in games of Dust Tactics. This week, the heroes of Operation “Cerberus” take center stage. The Allies have access to the dual flame throwers of Guglielmo Zanicotti, better known simply as The Chef, and the Axis gains the ferocious Blutkreuz Korps Assassin Angela Wolf. With the shores of England on the line, these two heroes add potent new strategies to their causes.

Now with twice the flames

The Chef is one of the Allies top counter-intelligence agents, and when the going gets tough, he counts on his flame throwers to get himself out of a jam. Known for his particularly poor aim, The Chef prefers the broad spray of napalm to more conventional weapons.

To take advantage of The Chef’s flame throwers, consider joining him to a squad of Hell Boys. This combination is absolutely terrifying! It can produce four flame thrower attacks a turn. Infantry and vehicles alike are susceptible to flame attacks, and cover is useless against flames, so this squad has many tactical applications.

The Chef and the Hell Boys have to get up close to deliver their deadly payload. The squad moves fairly slowly, and such a powerful unit attracts a lot of attention. So, how do you get The Chef to his target? The simplest way is probably to keep him behind the front line until it is time to strike. Although it is tempting to lead with such a powerful squad, try thinking of this squad like a mop; it’s their job to clean up messes that get left behind.

This hero-squad mix could also produce some nice combinations inside a Fireball to provide some needed protection and even more flame based attacks, or with a Stimulant Kit shot from the NCO Command Squad Field Medic that would give The Chef and his squad two consecutive turns.

One shot, many kills

Angela is arguably the world’s most dangerous assassin. With her 20mm Solothurn, she is able to eliminate targets before they even become a real threat. In addition, her Frenzy ability allows her wipe out entire squads. However, she is even more deadly when paired with a squad.

Sniper Grenadiers are a logical pairing for Angela. The spotter gives Angela a bonus to hit targets, which is vital considering she generally only has one shot. The bonus to hit paired with the Frenzy skill means Angela can potentially deal massive amounts of damage each turn. Also, she gains the squad’s generous soft cover save, which helps toughen up this fragile squad.

One of this squad’s biggest weaknesses is its low amount of health, so it is important to take precautions and place this unit conservatively to minimize exposure. Another weakness is the fact that Angela only gets one shot in many situations, so it is very important to get Sustained Fire whenever possible.

Every squad gets an improvement to their range when firing from the upper levels of buildings (plus it’s just awesome to imagine snipers firing from the rooftops in the thick of a battle), so look for opportunities to get inside buildings. Also, don’t overlook Angela’s effectiveness against vehicles, especially lightly armored vehicles; with all her skills, she can dish out some serious damage to walkers.

The heroes of Dust Tactics are ready to take their place on the field of battle and in the history books. England is in danger, and you hold the keys to its future in Operation \"Cerberus,\" which disembarks to store shelves this month. Get to your local retailer and pre-order this expansion today.

Zitat
It’s a zombie invasion

If masses of undead forces appeal to you, then you’ll be excited about the Axis Hero Pack. Two of the new Axis heroes are zombies and they are ready to make your Axis Zombies squads even more deadly in close combat.

Infused with the Wiederbeleben Serum, Totenmiester steals life from her victims to heal herself. If she inflicts damage in combat, she regenerates as much damage as she dealt, up to her maximum health. Add in Damage Resilient, armor three, and her Blut Kreuz combat weapon, and Totenmeister becomes a self-healing wrecking ball in close combat.

When Totenmeister joins an Axis Zombies squad, she helps make sure they make it to close combat, where they can unleash their Panzer Punches. By letting her absorb some of the damage the squad is sure to receive while closing the gap and getting into combat, more of the zombie models make it into combat. Then she can regenerate the damage she took protecting the squad as she feasts on the poor souls she defeated in combat. Just make sure to roll her attacks separately from her squad’s, so you know how much damage she inflicted.

The other zombie hero is Grenadier X. This zombie wields a deadly Circular Saw that can cut even the toughest opponent to pieces. Grenadier X does not have the life drain abilities of Totenmeister, but he does have Assault, which gifts him and his zombie friends a huge speed boost that helps them get into combat quickly.

Since Axis Zombies are already Fast, Grenadier X’s Assault ability means once per game the squad can move an astounding five spaces, or move three spaces and still attack! Clearly this combination is going to lead to many nervous Allied commanders, as Grenadier X and his squad could manage to get into combat immediately in some scenarios, or they could just make a mad dash across the map and count on their Damage Resilient ability to keep them alive until their next activation.

These zombie heroes make the already potent Axis Zombie squad even deadlier. For players who would love nothing better than to have their own zombie horde, Totenmeister and Grenadier X are the perfect leaders. They are joined by the flame thrower wielding Stefan in the pending Axis Hero Pack.

More ammunition, more explosions

The Allies also receive heroic reinforcements with the Allies Hero Pack. Included in this pack is Action Jackson, The Priest, and the first Badass character, Johnny One-Eye. These characters give commanders new options for combatting the onslaught of zombies they will soon be facing.

Johnny One-Eye is not a character that blows you away at first glance, but his Badass ability is exceptionally useful, and he makes an already versatile BBQ Squad even more worthwhile. Additionally, at the bargain price of only 16 points, he can easily fit into many army lists without taking up too much space.

With the ability to provide his squad with unlimited ammo, Johnny One-Eye has several options for squads to lead. However, the BBQ Squad makes a good choice for this hero. In this configuration, the squad has the option of attacking with five Demo charges every single turn in addition to their regular weapons. This boost in firepower means the BBQ Squad can more effectively deal with enemy vehicles while still being useful against infantry.

Like Johnny One-Eye, the Allied hero The Priest is somewhat deceptive. His armament does not appear to be overly destructive, although Dynamite is powerful against vehicles. His true value is in the bonuses he gives to the squad he joins.

The Priest makes his squad Agile. Moving diagonally with no penalty is a huge boon for Fast Allies squads. Join The Priest to a Hell Boys squad and move three diagonal spaces in a single turn! With the additional movement bonus, the short range Flamethrowers and Shotguns become even more dangerous than they were previously. Another benefit The Priest has to offer is the Medal of Honor ability that allows him to reroll one combat die per turn. Since he only rolls a single combat die when attacking with Dynamite, a bonus reroll is most welcome.

Und nicht über ein paar verhunzte deutsche Begriffe wundern, im Spiel sind sie korrekt, nur die PR-Fuzzies scheinen es nicht in ihren Webartikeln auf die Reihe zu bekommen...

No other faction has suffered so much, endured so many casualties, had so much land razed, or resources plundered, yet the SSU survives, and it is stronger than ever. Now, the SSU seeks to not only defend the motherland, but also to crush its enemies. When the SSU flexes its muscle, the world will feel its wrath!

Fantasy Flight Games is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of a bold new faction for Dust Tactics! When the Sino-Soviet Union invades Dust Tactics games, players will have access to new squads, vehicles, and strategies to crush their enemies under boot. In the first month of releases, the SSU receives five expansions that makes this faction immediately playable. In addition, Operation “Zverograd” adds the SSU’s first hero and introduces rules for airborne units to Dust Tactics. Surely, with so many tantalizing new models and rules, your games of Dust Tactics will never be the same.

Soar into battle

Operation “Zverograd” delivers rules for flying units, and the SSU is the first faction to benefit from this exciting technology. The SSU Airborne Transport swoops onto the battlefield and delivers extra firepower to wherever it’s needed most. With the Carry Capacity ability, this transport should prove to be invaluable to the SSU commander who needs to reinforce his lines at a moment’s notice. The SSU Airborne Transport even comes with an entire squad of Chinese Volunteers, so generals immediately have auxiliaries to move about the battlefield! Having the first flying unit in the game is sure to give the SSU an advantage, and create never-before-seen tactics.

Achieve a new level of battlefield mobility with the SSU’s heavy emphasis on speed. Many of their units have the Scout skill, and their flying transport adds even more logistical options. This bloc is adept at the art of the rapid attack, which lets them catch flat-footed opponents off balance. Beyond that, they have effective new assault weapons and thunderous guns, allowing you to tailor your force to your playing style.

A city with a secret

(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/SSU%20Announcement/gran-ma-figure.png)(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/SSU%20Announcement/DT034-koska.png)

With scenarios, background information, and all new rules, Operation “Zverograd” unleashes the SSU into the Dust Tactics environment. The city of Zverograd was once the jewel of Communist Russia, but after rumors of an valuable mystery under the streets of the city arose, the Axis and Allied armies attacked, hoping to claim the prize for themselves. Now the city is devastated, but the fighting continues. The SSU has committed every resource to the defense of Zverograd, as the secrets contained within could turn the tide of the war.

In this campaign expansion, players are introduced to the first SSU hero Koshka Rudinova and her walker “Grand’ma.” Koshka is a top operative in the SSU special forces, and she has won many awards and titles for her service. She has customized “Grand’ma” to her precise specifications, so now this walker incorporates a long-ranged 45mm Howitzer along with a brutal, but short-ranged, Sulfur Thrower. If “Grand’ma” is destroyed during the game, Kosha emerges from the wreckage and continues to fight by herself. This walker/hero pairing is a versatile threat at any distance on the battlefield, and Koshka’s flexibility on the battlefield makes her a fitting first hero for the SSU.

A host of options

The SSU also receives three infantry units: the SSU Command Squad, the SSU NKVD Close Combat Squad, and the SSU NKVD Battle Squad. These soldiers are among the most battle-hardened in the world. Many of them have waged war through the harsh Russian winters with only the bare minimum in supplies and ammunition. Leading the way is the SSU Command Squad. They are similar to other command squads, but one of its members carries a potent Power Tool to add additional anti-armor capabilities. In addition, the rank and file troops of the SSU come ready to fight to protect the motherland. The SSU NKVD Close Combat Squad hurls Molotov Cocktails at oncoming troops and tanks, while the SSU NKVD Battle Squad is a strong all-around unit that is equipped with two tactically flexible DPM machine guns.

In the technologically advanced world of Dust, no army would be complete without potent walkers to support its troops. At one point in the war, the SSU walkers were vastly inferior to their Axis and Allied counterparts, but now these vehicles are more than capable of going toe to toe with their rivals.

The SSU walkers are a mixture of stolen technology and inventive engineering upgrades. The KV47 Walker, the mainstay of the SSU walkers, backs up infantry forces with three different configurations: Nadya, Natalya, and Natasha. The Nadya is built for brutal close assaults with its twin Sulfur Throwers, and it is sure to intimidate infantry and walkers alike. The Natalya rips up anything foolish enough to get close to it with its dual Circular Saws. Last, the Natasha variant provides long-rang support with its two 45mm Howitzers, giving the SSU some welcomed firepower.

The invasion begins

The SSU enters the fray with a bang in the second quarter of 2012! And since every one of these SSU Dust Tactics expansions will be available at launch, you’ll be ready to assemble your force right away. Watch the FFG website for upcoming previews of the awesome new SSU units, and visit our SSU website for more information. In the second quarter of 2012, prepare to defend the motherland.

Last month, we announced the release of a new playable faction for Dust Tactics, the Sino-Soviet Union (SSU). Today, we are thrilled to announce more reinforcements for the SSU, and a welcomed addition for Allied commanders. The SSU Specialists, SSU Rifle squad, and also the SSU Hero Pack join the SSU forces. Meanwhile, the Allies gain a new Medium Combat Walker that can be deployed in two awesome variants: the Cobra and the Rattler.

The latest additions

The soldiers of the SSU have a strong affinity for sniper rifles. In fact, the SSU fields their snipers in pairs rather than teamed with a spotter. This gives the SSU Sniper Team more raw firepower than the Axis or Allies sniper teams. Softening the enemy front and even damaging walkers, the SSU Sniper Team is a valuable addition to any SSU force.

SSU Specialists with SSU Oberver team (left) and SSU Sniper Team (right)

Directing artillery is the main purpose of the SSU Observer Team. These two man units find and relay the positions of vulnerable targets to the SSU’s biggest and most destructive guns. Many generals have cursed their lack of foresight for ignoring these seemingly harmless squads in favor of more obvious threats, a mistake most do not live long enough to make twice.

Accomplished longshots

Picking off opponents from afar, the SSU Rifle Squad uses two Widowmaker rifles rather than the assault weapons like flamethrowers or heavy machine guns. The advantage of reach can be pivotal on the battlefield, and the SSU Rifle Squad can engage many enemies before they are in range to return fire.

SSU Rifle Squad

Far from defenseless in a close-quarters battle this squad unleashes their light machine guns in order to rip apart foes that get too close. The grizzled soldiers that make up the SSU Rifle Squad are prepared for any battlefield situation.

The heroes of the SSU

The SSU Hero Pack introduces three exceptional heroes to lead the forces of the SSU into battle. Yakov Pavlov is well known for his leadership on the battlefield. In fact, he is the first Legendary Tactician in Dust Tactics. In addition, his Acid Thrower melts any soldier or vehicle that stands in his way on the battleground.

SMERSH agent Red Yana is an extraordinary fighter. When she has an advantage in a battle, she knows how to capitalize on it, carrying out relentless assaults. Brandishing a Grenade Launcher, she is quite capable of leading a squad in an absolutely devastating offensive.

One of the rising stars of the SSU, distinguished tank commander Nikolaï is a crack shot. Although some walkers may be tougher or more agile than his, no pilot can match his uncanny marksmanship. When Nikolaï engages an enemy walker, it’s a safe bet that the enemy will be reduced to a mere pile of scrap.

Nikolaï, Yakov, and Red Yana

Great strides

Two new walkers are available in the MCW M3 expansion. To combat airborne threats, the Allies have developed the Rattler, a Medium Walker that fulfills an anti-aircraft role. The 40mm AA gun has abundant reach, and this tank also has ample anti-troop capabilities. The pilots of the Rattler must have superior reflexes in order to ground flying threats, and they receive ample training reacting to rapidly changing combat conditions.

(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/SSU_Allies%20announcement/Cobra.png)(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/SSU_Allies%20announcement/RattlerAmp.png)
Cobra (left) and Rattler with Amphibious Unit Upgrade (right)

Mounting a large Phaser weapon to a walker produces an intimidating creation. The Cobra is that creation, and it is utterly destructive. While Phaser technology can be somewhat unpredictable, when a blast from the Cobra’s 180 Watt Phaser Gun hits its target, the value of this advanced weapon cannot be denied. No doubt Axis and SSU commanders will be well aware of this electrifying walker.

Additionally, the MCW M3 expansion comes with pontoons to convert either walker variant into an Amphibious Unit. These units can move over land and water with ease, giving the Allies a new advantage in the global conflict.

These new expansions offer SSU and Allied commanders new paths to victory. Remember, these units, and all of the Dust Tactics units, can be used in the upcoming Dust Warfare. These new Dust Tactics units will be available in the second quarter of 2012, after the initial SSU expansions detailed in the previous Dust Tactics announcement article. Check back next month to see the devastating new Axis walker!

With enemies on all sides, the SSU engages in many military operations. While their alliances are few, their numbers are many. The development of Sino-Soviet war machines has already left a smoldering mark on the face of the war, and their progressive designs remain on the cutting edge of modern combat technology.

      -Operation “Zverograd” rulebook

As the arrival of Operation “Zverograd” nears, Dust Tactics players no doubt want to know more about this new campaign expansion. Throughout a series of previews over the coming weeks, you can explore all of the exciting new features of this operation, starting with a closer look at Koshka and her walker “Grand’ma.” This pairing represents the first hero for the SSU and also the first hero that pilots a walker in Dust Tactics.

The bravest of warriors

SMERSH agent Captain Koshka Rudinova is a legendary figure in the SSU. Joining the Red Cadets at the tender age of 15, she has been promoted to a position where she commands her own regiment. Adept in close combat, and also skilled with ranged weapons, Koshka has unnaturally fine piloting skills when operating “Grand’ma.” While rumors of a romantic involvement between Koshka and a certain Allied captain remain persistent, the fact remains that Koshka is one of the finest soldiers in the SSU army.

“Grand’ma” is a standard KV47 Walker that has been modified to Koshka’s specifications. Instead of the usual twin weapon configuration, “Grand’ma” is equipped with a VK-916 Howitzer and a Sulfur Jet, giving the vehicle flexibility in any combat situation. Another feature of this walker is the familiar Assault ability, which temporarily increases its speed, a useful addition whether attacking at close range, or just maneuvering into an optimal firing location.

While piloting “Grand’ma,” Koshka has many options on how to attack the enemy. In particular, her Fighting Spirit ability allows her to, once per game and only after moving, treat hits as misses and misses as hits. A player must declare they are using this ability before making an attack roll. For example, when she uses Fighting Spirit, she treats one hit and three miss results as three hits and one miss. Obviously this is a most valuable ability, but she can only use it while piloting her walker, so you’ll want to make sure you use this powerful ability before it’s too late.

Should “Grand’ma” be destroyed during a game, Koshka carries on by herself. Armed with a Grenade Pistol that ignores cover values, she can still prove to be a thorn in the opponent’s side.

Koshka is a potent first hero for the SSU forces, and soon she will be able to lead an entire SSU battle force. Check back regularly for more previews of the newest Dust Tactics campaign expansion Operation “Zverograd” and the other upcoming SSU releases. Operation “Zverograd” and the SSU expansions Airborne Transport, KV47 Walker, SSU Close Combat Squad, SSU Battle Squad, and SSU Command Squad will be released simultaneously in the second quarter, so be sure to pre-order these items from your retailer so you can field your own SSU army.

New Tech for the SSU and Axis Factions

In preparation for a new campaign, the SSU unveils more advanced technology, and the Axis counters with a new walker. With these exciting units, the battle for supremacy in Dust Tactics becomes even more deadly! Joining the mighty SSU bloc is the fearsome SSU Ground Attack Helicopter, the swift SSU Airborne Walker Transport, and the gritty SSU Commissar Squad. Meanwhile, the versatile Panzer-Kampfäufer III brings extra toughness to Axis forces.

SSU Commissar Squad

The SSU Commissar Squads are unique in how they operate on the battlefield. Sometimes they are deployed as a single unit, but more often they’re attached individually to squads. Commissars are political agents tasked with enforcing the SSU’s ideology, and they do that quite effectively embedded in infantry squads. From there, they can also bolster each squad’s fighting abilities.

Commissars act much like heroes when joining a squad. In fact, some of them have special abilities that you are already likely familiar with, like Badass and Assault. Also, some commissars are equipped with unique weapons that can add extra punch to any unit, including the DPM machine gun and the PTRS-47 missile launcher. Whether fielded as a unit or dedicated to other infantry squads, the SSU Command Squad brings additional firepower and abilities to your SSU force.

SSU Airborne Walker Transport

Dropping walkers in the midst of battle, the SSU Airborne Walker Transport strikes with lightning speed. This expansion comes with a KV-47 Walker that has been modified for aerial transport. This altered walker has three optional builds, meaning there is a perfect option for any situation. The speed and strength of the SSU Airborne Walker Transport are an effective pairing.

The three optional builds for the altered KV-47 Walker included with the SSU Airborne Walker Transport are the Nastasia, Nikita, and Nina. All of these walkers have the Assault ability that makes them even faster once they deploy on the battlefield. Nikita has an artillery weapon that allows you to make attacks without line of sight when paired with a spotter squad, and the Nastasia has a long-ranged gun that is useful for combatting aerial threats. The Nina makes use of dual RPG-47s, which fire short ranged anti-armor rockets. With a single hit from this powerful weapon, most walkers are reduced to scrap.

SSU Ground Attack Helicopter

Enter the SSU Ground Attack Helicopter! This potent gunship is the heavyweight of the SSU forces, and it’s rightly respected by all of the SSU’s foes. Featuring four variations, the SSU Ground Attack Helicopter can handle any task with its massive arsenal of weapons to choose from, including machine guns, cannons, rockets, bombs, and more. The only question is what combination of weapons will you use to annihilate your enemy?

(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/news/SSU%20Announcement/Airblaster.png)(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/news/SSU%20Announcement/Burner.png)

The Striker uses a mix of machine guns and cannons to halt the approach of enemy infantry, and it is quite capable of providing air superiority as well. Armed with Napalm and Rocket pods, the Burner lives up to its name. Hovering above the battle, the Airblaster searches for targets on which to drop its 250kg bombs. Finally, the Death Rain mixes incendiary Napalm with bombs to create an inferno of destruction at short range.

Panzer-Kampfäufer III

To combat the SSU forces, the Axis unveils new walkers. The Panzer-Kampfäufer III expansion supports three separate walker builds. This walker type features heavier armor and improved toughness to withstand more damage from enemy fire.

(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/news/SSU%20Announcement/flammlutherwotan.png)(http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/news/SSU%20Announcement/Wotan.png)

The Flamm-Luther is equipped with two Schwer Flammenwerfers. This oversized flamethrower can melt away even the thickest of armor. In addition, this walker has the Assault ability. The Wotan uses long-ranged laser weapons to punch holes through unfortunate soldiers and vehicles. The last build option in this expansion is the Wotan-AR that features the same laser cannons as the Wotan, but it has heavier armor for added protection.

Support your troops

The SSU adds flexibility, speed, and brute strength to their faction with the SSU Commissar Squad, SSU Airborne Walker Transport, and SSU Ground Attack Helicopter. These expansions give SSU commanders the tools they need to compete on any battlefield. In response, the Axis introduces the Panzer-Kampfäufer III, a tough and versatile walker platform. These Dust Tactics expansions will be available late second quarter 2012.

Remember, when you add reinforcements to your Dust Tactics army, you’re also building your Dust Warfare force at the same time! All of the Dust Tactics expansions, including those announced in this article, can be used in the forthcoming Dust Warfare tabletop game. With one set of miniatures for two games, all you will need to start playing Dust Warfare is the Core Rulebook.

Preview the rules for aircraft in Dust Tactics

The city is a war zone. More Axis troops arrive each day, fighting for control of every destroyed building or pile of rubble that might grant some cover. The Soviets are dug in; they survived Stalingrad and have firsthand experience with urban combat. Massive Allied offensives are launched regularly from the city’s eastern shores, sending fresh troops straight to the front line... or what remains of it.

As the battle for Zverograd grows more desperate, the entrenched forces of the SSU exploit any advantage they can find. One such advantage is their stable of dynamic aircraft that operate at engagement range with enemy infantry. Surely, the SSU’s dominance of the air is temporary, as the other blocs are likely to respond to this threat as quickly as possible.

Today, we look more closely at the rules for aircraft in Dust Tactics. These deadly units swoop onto the battlefield, quickly providing support to wherever it’s needed most. You’ll find rules governing this exciting vehicle type inside the upcoming Operation “Zverograd.”

The rules of engagement

The benefits of aircraft are many. These units have unparalleled line of sight on the battlefield and can ignore terrain that slows down or completely impedes ground units. Aircraft can also soar above any ground unit to quickly make it to the target. These advantages make aircraft deadly, as they have superior maneuverability compared to other units.

This swiftness does come at a cost, though. Aircraft cannot hide from ground units, making them susceptible to anti-aircraft fire, so commanders must always be aware of dangerous AA guns that bring down aircraft with ease. Also, since airborne units must constantly be moving, they cannot focus on a target to make sustained attacks like ground units.

Brief yourself with the Dust Tactics aircraft rules (pdf, 488KB). Prepare to deliver punishment from above when Operation “Zverograd” and the first wave of SSU expansions, including the SSU Airborne Transport, arrive.

http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/dust-tactics/Zverograd%20Announce/aircraft-rules.pdf

The Red Tide is rising

Take your Dust Tactics battles to the skies with Operation “Zverograd,” which will be available in the second quarter of 2012! Remember, many of the SSU units, like the Airborne Transport, release the same day as Operation “Zverograd,” so you can start building and fielding your SSU force immediately.

Assembling Your Force for Dust Warfare

In the upcoming Dust Warfare, armies clash for supremacy on the battlefields of an alternate reality where World War II continues. However, before you command your forces in battle, you’ll need to assemble an army using the versatile army lists included in the Dust Warfare: Core Rulebook.

One of the many appeals of Dust Warfare is the amount of control and customization you have over your forces. This game features a dynamic army building system that uses platoons, small and flexible groups of units and support vehicles that can be customized to complete any mission. In this preview, we’ll look more closely at the process of creating and equipping an Allied army list. We’ll focus on an Axis army list in a future article.

Using the platoon list

Familiarize yourself with the structure of platoons by looking at the Allies Combat platoon list (http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/Dust-Warfare/Dust%20Warfare%20Previews/DWF01-prev-88.pdf). This document illustrates platoon composition and details the potent Fire for Effect! special order. As you’ll see, every platoon is composed of up to four sections and additional Support units. You can choose from several different squads for each section you add. All platoons are required to have a Command Section and a First Section, but sections after that are optional and may be taken in any order. For example, a platoon could be made up of the Command, First, and Fourth Sections. Now that you’ve seen the basics of platoon building, let’s go over a sample army comprised of two platoons to illustrate how easy the platoon lists are to use.

2nd Section: Death Dealers Ranger Weapon Squad, 20 AP
3rd Section: Recon Boys Recon Ranger Squad, 16 AP
Support Unit:Crack Shots Ranger Sniper Team, 12 AP
Support Unit: Honey Light Assault Walker, 25 AP
Support Unit: Wildfire Light Assault Walker, 20 AP
Platoon Upgrade: Improved Command, 5 AP

Assault Platoon

Command Section: Johnny One-Eye, 17 AP
1st Section: BBQ Squad Assault Ranger Squad, 21 AP
2nd Section: Grim Reapers Heavy Ranger Attack Squad, 30 AP
Support Unit: Fireball Heavy Assault Walker, 85 AP

Total Army Points: 296

The mighty Fireball supports the Assault platoon

This force consists of two distinctly different platoons. With a healthy mix of special weapons and resourceful units, a Combat platoon is well balanced and adaptable to almost any role. On the other hand, the Assault platoon features aggressive squads that deal loads of damage, but at relatively short range. Working in concert, these platoons complement each other, resulting in an army with tactical flexibility, supported by fast-moving and deadly assault units!

Each platoon must select either a command unit or a hero as its Command Section. Selecting a command unit like The Boss gives the platoon a Medic, Mechanic, and Radioman, along with abilities like Additional Support, which allows the platoon to select an additional Support unit (snipers or spotters only). A The Boss unit leads the Combat platoon in this army list, providing a range of useful support abilities.

Crack Shots and The Boss

Choosing a hero as the Command Section generally results in fewer but more powerful special abilities. For instance, Johnny One-Eye’s Badass ability permits Johnny and any unit he joins to continue fighting even when they have reaction and suppression markers (we’ll discuss reaction and suppression in more depth in an upcoming preview). Leading the Assault platoon into combat, Johnny sets the tone for a platoon that will contain fast-moving, hard-hitting units.

Gathering the troops

For the First Section of a Combat platoon, generals can select from The Gunners, BBQ Squad, Recon Boys, and Grim Reapers. This list includes The Gunners, because they have the option to upgrade to two Bazookas, supplying additional firepower to the army.

Death Dealers and Recon Boys form the Second and Third Sections of the Combat platoon. These units are reliable in almost any situation, and wield versatile weapons like an M9 Bazooka, Victory machine guns, and UGLs, creating a strong backbone for the army.

In the Assault platoon, BBQ Squad, Recon Boys, or The Hammers are available in the First Section. With the Fast ability, brutal short-ranged shotguns, and a flamethrower, the BBQ Squad will make a fine pairing for Johnny One-Eye. Lending speed and vicious Dual Victory machine guns to this fast-moving, rugged platoon, the second choice in the Assault platoon is the Grim Reapers.

Getting the support you need

Allied forces cross the river

Support units consist of crafty specialists (snipers and spotter teams) and powerful walkers, bringing firepower or support abilities to fulfill vital battlefield roles. Each Support choice requires you to have already selected two sections on the platoon list, so you’ll want to make sure you include enough sections in each platoon to purchase all the Support units your army needs. For example, the Combat platoon has four sections and two light walkers in the Support unit slots. The Crack Shots are an upgrade granted by the Command Section’s Additional Support ability, hence a third Support slot.

In the Support slots of the Combat platoon, the Honey blasts enemy infantry and walkers with its energetic 120W Dual Phaser gun. The Wildfire excels at shredding enemy infantry and it also has strong anti-aircraft potential. Both of these light walkers fit nicely into the overall theme of tactical flexibility.

The fearsome Fireball fills the support choice for the Assault platoon. This massive walker not only delivers Napalm blasts to the frontlines, but it can also carry Johnny One-Eye and his BBQ Squad into battle as well!

The Allies and Axis clash in battle

To round out each platoon, you may select a platoon upgrade that gives your troops formidable advantages like additional heroes, better equipment, or even devastating artillery support. The Combat platoon has the Improved Command upgrade, giving the Command Section an additional Radioman to help issue Orders in the Command phase, which will be the topic of an upcoming preview.

Versatile and easy to use, the platoon lists in Dust Warfare give you freedom to build an army that suites your playstyle. With so many options for building your army, the possibilities are almost endless! Gather up your favorite units and prepare to organize them into an unstoppable force when Dust Warfare arrives next month. Until then, check back for our next preview, which will cover the innovative Battle Builder system and the important Initiative phase.

Planning Your Path to Glory

Dust Warfare has many exciting, innovative features that set it apart from other wargames. As you saw in the previous preview, platoons offer a unique way to organize troops and supporting units, allowing you to customize your armies to your playstyle. Today, we’ll look as several more intriguing aspects of Dust Warfare, including campaign scenarios, the Battle Builder, and the Initiative phase.

Generating a Scenario

Select from one of the five tense campaign scenarios and start your battle quickly, or use the original Battle Builder rules http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/Dust-Warfare/Dust%20Warfare%20Previews/Dust%20Warfare%20Preview%202/DWF01-prev-64.pdf and create your own unique scenario.

Fight a one-off battle or string several missions together and create a narrative using the campaign scenarios. Clash in a chaotic Night Engagement where units deploy hidden away from enemy sight, or keep your enemy guessing as to your true motives in a Secret Mission where only you know the objectives of the battle. The campaign scenarios offer a variety of interesting missions that let you and your opponent dive into combat, or even stage a multi-game campaign, building to a climatic conclusion!

With the Battle Builder, creating the scenario is a strategic part of the game! Before the game, each player takes turns spending Scenario Points to influence critical game variables. If you wisely invest your points and keep your strategies secret, you could manage to create a scenario that perfectly suits your force. Download the Battle Builder preview (pdf, 213KB), and see how these versatile rules allow you and your opponent to build a unique scenario.

Seizing the initiative

In the Initiative phase, players determine who will go first in the Command and Unit phase and how many Orders each player has for the Command phase. All of this is calculated by counting the number of units in your army and rolling the corresponding number of dice at the start of the Initiative phase. Each player rolls and then shares the results with his opponent. The player who rolled the fewest hits acts first in the Command and Unit phase. In the Command phase, both players can issue as many Orders as hits they rolled. We\'ll talk in more detail about Orders and the Command phase in the next Dust Warfare preview.

Sometimes it will be vital to your plan to act first in the Command phase. Perhaps you have the opportunity to finish off a bazooka wielding unit before they destroy your Luther, and you’ll only have that chance if you act first in the Command Phase, or maybe you can move an exposed squad into hard cover before they are ripped asunder by the opponent\'s Grim Reapers.

As you can see, there are many reasons you may want to go first in the Command phase. However, ordering units in the Command phase will cost you precious actions in the Unit phase, as performing actions in the Command phase leads to less actions in the Unit phase.

Saving your actions for the Unit phase can be a useful strategy as well. Units can perform Sustained Attacks or March Moves in the Unit phase, but only if they did not act in the Command phase. This increase in speed and firepower can be decisive in the midst of a hotly contested battle. On the other hand, the opponent\'s squads will be able to react to your actions during the Unit phase, so you\'ll have to carefully orchestrate your attack. We will address the Unit phase and reactions in more detail in an upcoming preview.

Dust Warfare offers multiple ways to set up and influence a game with the Battle Builder or you can use campaign scenarios to quickly stage a game…or even an entire series of games. In the Initiative phase, you’ll decide not just who goes first for the turn, but how many preemptive orders players can issue. Be sure to check back soon for the upcoming preview of the Command phase, and pre-order the Dust Warfare: Core Rulebook, which will be available later this month.

Brilliant Leadership in the Heat of Battle

We slogged through the forest for days, freezing and hungry. The heavy snow slowed our pace to slightly faster than a crawl, but it was worth it. We had outmaneuvered the Germans and our assault would catch them completely off guard. Captain Miller\'s gambit paid dividends, and once the battle began, we captured the town in no time.
      -Allied Private Dan Mellish

In Dust Warfare, Command Sections and heroes bravely lead powerful armies into battle. During the Command phase, they issue advance Orders, allowing squads to move, attack, or regroup. These unique Orders give players the tools they need to outfox and defeat even the most stalwart opponents. Today, we\'ll provide an overview and examine the unique Command phase of Dust Warfare.

Taking action

In the Command phase, the Initiating player performs all of his Orders, implementing strategies and developing his plan of attack. Next, the Responding player issues his Orders, giving him a chance to adapt to the changing battlefield conditions. Once both sides have completed their advance actions, the game progresses to the Unit phase.

Delve into the Command phase overview http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/Dust-Warfare/Dust%20Warfare%20Previews/Dust%20Warfare%20Preview%203/DWF01-prev-30.pdf and familiarize yourself with more details of this innovative phase. As you\'ll see, Command Sections form a vital part of your army, especially when they are in close proximity to your other squads.

The Command phase overview also outlines the two basic Orders of the phase: Take Action and Regroup. Armed with these versatile Orders, you can preemptively move units, order lightning-fast attacks, or rally broken squads. Now that you know the fundamentals, let\'s explore the Command phase even further.

Strategic implications

Issuing Orders and performing actions in the Command phase has an enormous benefit for your army. Since your opponent cannot directly react to Orders, your troops can act freely and without fear of immediate enemy reaction. As the battle intensifies, use your Orders to seize vital objectives, bring down enemies in a hail of fire, or even set up a cunning ambush. All of these possibilities become real strategies in the dynamic Command phase.

Acting in the Command phase can also hamstring troops later in the turn. Units that take an action in the Command phase receive a Reaction marker, meaning they can only take one action in the Unit phase instead of two. Also, they can no longer make a reaction for the rest of the turn (we\'ll cover reactions in the next Dust Warfare preview). As the army\'s general, you\'ll have to weigh the options and determine the value of activating units in the Command phase. Choosing wisely could be the difference between victory and defeat.

Improving your Command

Beyond the basic Orders, there are even more ways to increase your strategic options in the Command phase. For example, every platoon type has access to a unique special Order. Fire for Effect! allows Allied Combat platoons to call in devastating Long Tom artillery strikes. Since every platoon has a different special Order, including multiple platoons in a force adds to your arsenal of Orders. Try out all the platoons, and find out which Orders best fit your playstyle.

Gain precious Orders in the Command phase by simply purchasing a Command Section unit with the Command Squad ability to lead your platoons. While heroes do not have this ability, each platoon has access to a Command Section unit that does (read more about Command Sections in the Assembling Your Force for the Tabletop preview). Potentially game changing, this useful ability gives you one extra Order every Command phase! This means you\'ll have a minimum of two Orders at your disposal every turn. Unfortunately, this bonus does not stack with multiple units with the Command Squad ability; however, redundancy can be good thing if catastrophe befalls one of your Command Sections.

Using strategies unseen in tabletop miniatures gaming, the Command phase of Dust Warfare allows you to preemptively attack enemy units and outmaneuver your opponent. Erste Reviews zu Dust Warfare

Zitat
Hey everyone Denied here with my first impressions review of the new Fantasy Flight miniatures game DUST Warfare. I got a chance to stop in to the Fantasy Flights event center on Thursday night for their big pre release unveiling of DUST and I was able to play a game and pick up a copy of the book on my way out. I even got Mack Martin one of the game designers to sign it for me. Sadly Andy Chambers was not present to do the same, but I was told I had just missed Alessio Cavatore (/sad panda) one day Alessio you and I shall cross paths and on that day I will so hug you :-D

My first impressions of DUST were very positive overall it was a very easy game to pick up and start playing. The rule book is extremely lean, almost bordering on anorexic. The entire book front to back is only 143 pages, this includes the army entries for every (current) Allied and Axis force as well as a few sheets of cut out markers for use in the game (I’m leaving mine in the book though). Skimming through the book its looks like the design team took a page out of Alessio’s mantra of simplify, everything comes off very clean with no big clunky rules that contradict each other. The system is very similar to other table top miniatures games you have some dudes they have some weapons and they want to kill the other dudes on the opposite end of the table as them. An interesting and unique point is this game uses special dice, they are your standard D6 only that there are 4 blank faces and 2 that have some sort of target or symbol on them. Basically the system works on the concept of you get X number of dice, role them if you get a mark you hit/succeed/ happy-party-dance-time. It defiantly makes this an easy game for beginners to pick up and run with as there is very little math needed to figure out if you hit then wound the enemy its just is there a symbol on the dice I rolled then I succeeded .

The Game utilizes its own simple to use (even though I didn’t do it in my first game) mission building format. When talking with Mack Martin he mentioned that the intention for this mission generator is to make it easier on Tournament Organizers (Since DUST is specifically designed to be used in a tournament setting). The missions can be generated uniquely by the players for each round of the tournament so the TO doesn’t have to get yelled at for designing unfair scenarios for people, additionally from my cursory glance it seems that the mission generator allows for people to counter the often infuriating SPAM lists people bring to tournaments.

The game utilizes an interesting turn system as well that results in unique initiative each turn, this may sound broken at first but trust me its far from it actually. If anything it helps to keep the game balanced as the game goes on so if Player A took a particular nasty beating in the first turn he has a higher chance of going first in subsequent turns. This means that there are no moments in the game when there is one player obviously winning over his opponent which to me made the game more fun in the long run as even when I was loosing I had the chance to turn it around and get back on top.

Last thing I want to talk about real quick are the miniatures (As this is a miniatures game after all). Now I never played DUST Tactics which from my understanding is where the miniature line actually originates from, but I was impressed with the miniatures they had available to play with at the event. My understanding is the miniatures are purchased pre assembled and primed and for a little extra cash you can shell out for the pre painted armies as well. The models they had for demonstrations at the event were the pre painted ones and I must say overall I thought they were better then anything I could have done on my own. I attached a few photos I took of them below. Additionally I am not sure what kind of super alloy they mad these things from, but they were damn near indestructible. At one point Mack demonstrated this by chucking with force a model gorilla soldier (yet another reason to play this FREAKING MONKEY SOLDIERS!!!) across the event center and when I went and picked the guy up excepting it to be in several pieces I found the defiant little ******* staring at me as is to say “What up now son!”. The overall esthetic of the miniatures I found very appealing even though I am not a huge WWII fan they had enough whimsy and cleverness to their design that I enjoyed them very much. My friend who was at the event with me who plays Imperial Guard was very impressed with the miniatures and kept thinking of how he wanted to take this bit and that bit and a few extras to beef up his IG armies look.

Overall I would say the simplicity and easy at which a novice player can get into DUST Warfare is very appealing. This is defiantly a great game for beginning miniatures enthusiast as it just helps transition people into the hobby. I first got started with Warhammer 40K and starting that hobby was like your parents teaching you to swim by dropping you in the deep end with a lead weight attached to your ankle, DUST in comparison is like having Michael Phelps as your personal swim instructor. I highly suggest people get out to their local stores in the next couple of weeks and pick up a copy when it hits the shelf. At just over $40 for the Core Rule book which includes all the current army entries this game is very easy on the wallet to get into. I can see building a competitive level army at around $100-$200 and that to me is also very appealing. Overall I say this game is a 9/10 and I put my stamp of approval on it.

Zitat
Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of Operation “Hades” for Dust Tactics!

When invading Axis forces descended into the sewers of Stalingrad to move about the city unimpeded, the Soviets sent their own troops underground to stop them. The bitter fighting that took place there marked the beginning of the RattenKrieg, or “Rats’ War.” The confined spaces and narrow sewer tunnels became a hellish battlefield, unlike any before seen in the history of warfare. The claustrophobic environment was perfect for traps and ambushes, and every squad knew that death could be waiting for them around the next corner. The Rats’ War may have come to life in Stalingrad, but it plays an even larger and deadlier role beneath the city of Zverograd.

Scheduled to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2012, Operation “Hades” introduces new rules for subterranean warfare, superhuman soldiers, new skills, and richly detailed information about the city and battleground of Zverograd. It also brings you thirty-one tiles, a Zverograd city poster, a map of the Zverograd metro, six new scenarios, and over two dozen objectives to serve as the basis of your own scenarios. Finally, Operation “Hades” marks the arrival of Winter Child, the game’s first superhuman soldier.

War in the Underground

Operation “Hades” introduces new rules for underground fighting, as well as rules more specifically designated for scenarios fought in Zverograd’s sewers and metro.

During underground combat, troops must cope with dim lighting and confined quarters. There is very little light beneath the city of Zverograd. Units can hear enemies coming,
but they are hard to make out in the darkness. As a result, it’s not uncommon for soldiers in such tense conditions to fire blindly into the shadows ahead of them when they hear enemies approaching. The darkness of the underground grants a unit increasing levels of cover the farther it is from an attacking unit, and units cannot target foes with four or more spaces between them.

Additionally, there’s not much headroom underground. In caves or in the sewers, the ceilings are very low. It’s only slightly better in the metro. The stress and darkness may cause troops to waste ammo, firing blindly into the dark, but troops are also limited in their movements. Units cannot use the Jump skill while fighting underground.

With these rules (which we’ll explore in greater detail later), players can experience entire scenarios set in Zverograd’s sewers and metro, or they can join two or more boards together and designate locations where units can exit one map and enter the other. Altogether, the subterranean combat of Operation “Hades” opens up exciting new dimensions for the battles of Dust Tactics!

Winter Child

For years, Earth’s major powers have been working on different ways to create superhuman soldiers. Many of these research programs began long before the war, but
they received considerably more funding when it began. The SSU were years late in the discovery and practical applications of VK, but while the Axis were creating the first combat walkers, the SSU spent their time working on ways to create superhumans by enhancing the powers of the mind.

At length, their trials bore fruit, but the SSU were unable to duplicate their results. Thus, Colonel Ivan Vasiliev, the first SSU superhuman, remains a hero apart from the rest of humanity. In his magnificently crafted battle armor, Colonel Vasiliev, also known as “Winter Child,” towers above those around him, but few of them expect that their fantastic hero wears such armor not to protect himself, but to protect them from the inhuman energy he constantly radiates.

Operation “Hades” introduces new rules for superhumans, and these powerful units function like heroes, except that they cannot join other squads. Still, their tremendous abilities, defense, hit points, and attack lines are likely to make superhumans like Winter Child an exciting part of Dust Tactics as the game moves forward.

Your Dust Tactics Campaign Toolbox

Operation “Hades” comes with six pre-built scenarios that thrust you squarely into the tense action of underground fighting. However, the possibilities are all but endless when it comes to the scenarios that can be generated within the besieged city of Zverograd.

Going beyond the basic scenarios, Operation “Hades” provides you a wealth of information, which you can use to create your own custom scenarios. You can learn about the city’s layout from a poster, map, and pages of detailed information on a number of key locations. Meanwhile, key objectives are scattered throughout the city, each with its own special properties and tactical advantages, and many are linked to each other by Zverograd’s metro tunnels and sewer lines, creating unique combat situations both above and below ground.

Operation “Hades” encourages players to create their own scenarios in the war-torn city of Zverograd, and it offers numerous Gaming Notes to help spur your imagination.

Dust Tactics Premium Edition

As with all our Dust Tactics products, players will have the opportunity to pick up Operation “Zverograd” in either the unpainted Dust Tactics version or the masterfully pre-painted Dust Tactics Premium Edition version.

The Premium version of Operation “Zverograd” brings you a Winter Child professionally painted in loving detail, according to the art direction of Vincent Fontaine, the head of Dust Studio. With his fine metallic armor and the pulsing blue of his radiation beam, the Premium Winter Child is an intimidating presence on the battlefield and a stunning addition to any SSU army.

Winter Child comes unpainted in the Dust Tactics version of Operation “Hades” (left), where the Dust Tactics Dust Tactics Premium Edition version comes with one Winter Child miniature and two heads. You can choose whether to fully enclose Winter Child in his armor and helmet (center) or to remove his helmet to give him a more personal view of the battlefield (right).

War is Hell

Despite soldiers’ bravery and the inspiring leadership of an army’s greatest heroes, war claims its toll. Now, as the fighting in Zverograd moves toward the terrifying enclosures of the city’s sewers and metro, the darkness is everywhere, and the sounds of gunfire are inescapable. Is that a zombie’s guttural growl you hear through the darkness? Is that the echoing footfall of an armored soldier? Are those words of Russian real or manifestations of your fears?

Get ready for some of the tensest, deadliest, and most thrilling battles of Dust Tactics when you explore the wealth of options brought to you in Operation “Hades.”

The fifth campaign expansion for Dust Tactics, Operation “Hades” is scheduled to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Red Guards Anti-Tank Squad

Anti-tank squads are an essential element of modern infantry formations, and the Red Guards Anti-Tank Squad are a core element of the famed Red Guards Infantry Regiments. These veteran soldiers have spent countless hours perfecting their use of heavy weapons and aren’t afraid to get up close and personal with the world’s biggest war machines. If they get into range, there’s nothing they can’t destroy.

These anti-tank specialists come equipped with two PTRS-47 bazookas, each capable of punching a hole through even the most heavily armored walkers. Deploy these soldiers to add some spine and versatility to any Dust Tactics SSU army!

Red Guards Command Squad

Long behind the Axis and Allies in VK technology and combat walkers, the SSU army of Dust Tactics has relied on the strength of its infantry to endure the war, and Soviet field officers have been no strangers to their nation’s suffering. Accordingly, though the Red Guards Command Squad offers SSU players all the standard Command Squad skills, allowing them to reactivate your other units, call in artillery strikes, and help coordinate your attacks, these stalwart veterans arrive at the battlefield better armed than their Axis and Allied counterparts.

These battle-tested soldiers have upgraded their weaponry to better combat any direct threat they might encounter. The Red Guards Command Squad carries UGLs and a PTRS-47 for the times when it’s best to lead by example. After all, these soldiers are more than just a group of tough officers and specialists: they are First Red Guards.

IS-5 Heavy Tank

With less access to VK-driven technologies, SSU engineers have had to invent other means to combat the powerful walkers deployed by their Axis and Allied foes. Their response? The IS-5 Heavy Tank comes equipped with serious SSU firepower in both of two Damage Resilient configurations.

IS-5 A “Mao Zedong”

Built to deal with serious threat of enemy aircraft, the Mao Zedong controls a battlefield at range with its Quad 85 mm AA Gun. These powerful guns are deadly to enemy aircraft and can be used effectively against ground targets as well.

IS-5 B “Vladimir Lenin”

Meanwhile, the SSU has long considered artillery the most important weapon on the modern battlefield. Since the beginning of the war, fielding these huge guns has proven a successful tactic for the Soviets, one which they see no reason to stop now. The second configuration of the IS-5, the Vladimir Lenin, is a powerful artillery platform, capable of reducing enemy targets to rubble with its massive 252 mm field mortar.

Pre-Painted Premium Miniatures Come Battle Ready

As soon as these Dust Tactics units are available at retailers near you, we’ll also have professionally pre-painted versions available on our webstore through our Dust Tactics Premium Edition line. Each Premium Edition miniature is painstakingly detailed according to the art scheme developed by Vincent Fontaine, master painter and Dust Studio’s Art Director. These Premium Edition miniatures are as close as you can get to the world of Dust Tactics without having to seek shelter from incoming mortars and laser fire!

Whether you wish to customize your own miniatures or field any army of battle-ready, pre-painted Premium Edition units, these upcoming expansions add serious firepower to any SSU army. Look for the Red Guards Anti-Tank Squad, Red Guards Command Squad, and IS-5 Heavy Tank to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2012.

It is 1947, and the armies of the three great blocs have collided in a small city along the Caspian Sea. Zverograd, a city that lies at the divide of continents, lies also at a crossroads in world history. Now, the battle that has raged here for months has reached its tipping point, and only through the use of recently developed technological terrors and innovative new tactics can any of the three warring factions prevail.

Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Campaign Book Hades, a supplement for Dust Warfare! The pivotal battle for the doomed city of Zverograd has dragged on for months, and all three factions now seek any means of breaking the stalemate. Campaign Book Hades continues the tense struggle for this all-important metropolis, while adding new rules, options, and stats for upcoming Dust Warfare units.

New Weapons, New Battles

With stats for recently announced Allied, Axis, and SSU miniatures, Campaign Book Hades is a valuable addition to any Dust Warfare player’s library. This jam-packed 48-page softcover book presents details on locations in and around Zverograd, and it features rules for Tesla weaponry, never-before-seen special abilities, and much more!

The war has sparked amazing (and terrifying) scientific innovation; as such, Campaign Book Hades debuts rules for superhuman characters, “Soldier 4” units that take battlefield heroism to new heights. So powerful that they are limited to one per army, these heroes are imbued with abilities that go well beyond special equipment or elite skills. Colonel Ivan Vasiliev, aka “Winter Child,” is Dust Warfare’s first superhuman, and he’s a one-man flying fortress that strikes fear in the hearts of the SSU’s enemies. With his formidable radiation beam and hydraulic fists, Winter Child is ready to take on targets both near and far.

What’s more, Campaign Book Hades offers a unique new perspective on Dust Warfare, in which you are the general, deciding the sites of future battles! Included inside are rules for the epic Hades Campaign, a long-term conflict in which players plan their engagements using a detailed overland map of Zverograd. Multiple players can divide into teams of three, then battle for strategically important locations across the city...culminating in a final battle that could decide the fate of the world.

Keep checking back for more on Campaign Book Hades in the coming weeks, and look for it on store shelves in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Also warum nicht.

Strength and Subtlety

The war for the fate of the world is heating up with the addition of four new expansions for Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare! Unveiled last weekend at Gen Con Indy 2012, these new units bring a range of options to all three factions. For the SSU, the IS-48 Super-Heavy Tank is an unstoppable powerhouse, while the Red Guard Assault Squad is made up of some of the world’s most inventive and cunning soldiers. To respond to this threat, the Axis fields its Heavy Antitank Grenadiers, and the Allies attack under cover of night with their British Commandos Kill Squad!

We’re pleased to announce that all four of these versatile expansions are coming in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Something for Everyone

The IS-48 Super-Heavy Tank, Karl Marx, is perhaps the most powerful ground vehicle in the world. Armed with the brand new Heavy Tesla Gun, this tank is a dire threat to infantry and vehicle units alike. Designed by the SSU, the tank’s deadly Tesla cannon ignores cover, wipes out out enemy squads in a single burst, and “explodes” for tremendous damage against enemy vehicles. When the IS-48 Super-Heavy Tank takes the battlefield it instantly becomes the centerpiece of any army.

Backing up their new armored behemoth are the SSU’s famous Red Guards Infantry Regiments, and the Red Guards Assault Squad consists of some of the best soldiers on the planet. Joining a unit of the Red Guards is an honor for any SSU soldier; it means that he has made it through the selection process and survived one of the world’s toughest training programs. With their PPSh-48, DPM MG, UGLs, and Molotov cocktails, these Guards are capable of dealing critical damage to unwary foes.

Not to be outdone, the Axis and Allies each bring significant firepower. The development of heavy body armor allowed the Axis to deploy its soldiers into the deadliest of combat zones at lightning speed, often well before they could mobilize long-range support. Axis engineers worked tirelessly to develop long-range weaponry for these elite soldiers, and the result was the Caseless PaK 7.5 cm. With this formidable weapon, the Axis Heavy Antitank Grenadiers are deadlier than ever. The Heavy Antitank Grenadiers share a single base and come with a special card with three health boxes, like on a hero card.

Meanwhile, the British Commandos Kill Squad provides players with three carefully sculpted miniatures that they can configure as either a British Commandos Kill Squad or a French Foreign Legion Kill Squad. Either of these Allied Kill Squads can rain death upon enemy infantry with its 50W Phaser Rifles. The British Commandos back up their firepower with the Scout skill while the French Foreign Legion Kill Squad can use its Assault skill to execute a vital tactical maneuver once per game.

Whether you wish to customize your own miniatures or field any army of battle-ready, pre-painted Premium Edition units, these upcoming expansions add serious firepower to any SSU army. Look for two builds of the IS-48, both units from the British Commandos Kill Squad, two configurations of the Heavy Antitank Grenadiers, and the Premium Red Guard Assault Squad to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2012.

Swooping in for the Kill
Paolo Parente Talks About the Aircraft of Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare

Back in May, Operation “Zverograd” and the SSU took the world of Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare by storm. The introduction of this third faction allowed players to pursue wholly new army builds. The SSU’s gritty, hard worn, and resolute armies not only featured all new infantry and combat walkers, they included the game’s first aircraft.

Now the SSU Airborne Transport swoops across battlefields, carrying troops into the thick of action. Two more helicopters are on their way, and fans of Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare who stopped by our booth at Gen Con Indy were excited to see the two Axis flyer prototypes that we showed off in our display case.

Today, we’re happy to share an interview with Paolo Parente, creator of the Dust universe, about these new Axis flyers and the future of aircraft in Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare!

Interview with Paolo Parente, Creator of Dust

FFG: Aircraft have recently added another exciting dimension to Dust Tactics. What challenges did you face as you worked to incorporate them into the game?

PP: Luckily, Dust Tactics is a pretty straightforward game that allowed us to let air units follow most of the regular movement and shooting rules. The main challenge was to try to represent the fact that aircraft move so much faster than ground units, and this was finally solved by forcing all units targeting an aircraft to be at range of 6 or less.

FFG: What inspired you as you developed your concepts for the different aircraft?

PP: The main inspiration for all our vehicles are the late war and early post-war projects. Late war airplanes were mostly jet fighters since Germany was trying to counter the allied bombing raids over its territory, and they were looking for very fast and radar-equipped night interceptors. However, Dust Tactics does not need jet fighters; we needed to study ground-attack aircraft that could make sense on our type of battlefield.

l decided to develop VTOL aircrafts. These are totally ahead of their time, l know, but perfect for the task. VTOL are slower than jet fighters, and perfectly accomplish the role we need them to fulfill. Also, I could make their wing span shorter, making it possible to play them easily on our tables.

Their lines were inspired by two of my favorite WWII aircrafts – the Axis Horten and the Allied P38 Lightning. Their lines are so unique and different from each other that they’re perfect for the job.

Paolo Parente’s Raid Over Zverograd

FFG: I know it’s often difficult for a creator to choose from among his creations, but can you pick a favorite from among the aircraft? And what brings it closer to your heart?

PP: l really love them both, but my absolutely favorite aircraft will be released next year. It will be for the SSU.

FFG: What about Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare has surprised you the most so far?

PP: The Dust universe being appreciated by so many gamers…it’s just great.

FFG: Anything else you want to share with us today?

PP: l just want to thank the players and fans who keep enjoying our game and miniatures. Their enthusiasm and feedback are very encouraging.

Thanks, Paolo!

We’ve had a lot of fun with the beautiful miniatures from the alternate World War II of Dust Tactics, and we look forward to seeing the skies filled with SSU helicopters and these new flyers.

Meanwhile, until these prototype aircraft are finished and ready for your games of Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare, keep your eyes open for future announcements and previews.

Fear the Dark
Preview the Rules for Underground Combat from Operation Hades

Two squads of Red Guards stood behind “The Fonvizin” as he tested the weight of his PPSh-48 and strained to see through the darkness. Everyone was on edge. They had been hunting the Axis for hours, now, through the metro tunnels, but they hadn’t expected anything like this. Lights flickered. Shadows filled the distance. Dripping water made frayed wires snap. And then they heard the slaps of footfalls coming fast from all sides. There were so many of them. The first howl echoed through the tunnels as a giant ape raced forward, smashing through two soldiers with his gauntleted fists, and shrugging off a short volley of bullets…

Recently, we announced the upcoming release of Operation “Hades,” the next campaign expansion for Dust Tactics, which introduces the deadly subterranean struggles of the “Rats’ War.”

Setting the Stage

The term “RattenKrieg” was first used to describe the bitter fighting that took place beneath the city of Stalingrad, where invading Axis forces descended into the sewer system in order to move about the city unimpeded. When the Soviets realized this, they sent their own troops underground to stop the invaders. This marked the beginning of the RattenKrieg, or “Rats’ War.” Beneath the streets, the dark, confined metro lines and narrow sewer tunnels became a hellish battlefield, unlike any before seen in the history of warfare. The claustrophobic environment was perfect for traps and ambushes, and every squad knew that death could be waiting for them around the next corner.

The RattenKrieg may have been born in Stalingrad, but this terrible new form of warfare reached its apex beneath the city of Zverograd. The Axis realized the city’s sewers and metro system provided a route into the city, along which their soldiers could find protection from enemy sniper fire and the dreaded SSU artillery barrages. But the Soviets had not forgotten the lessons they had learned in Stalingrad… and this time they were prepared.

It wasn’t long before the Allies, too, realized the strategic importance of Zverograd’s subterranean warfare. Not only were the battles for the city’s subterranean corridors ultimately impacting the control of valuable lines of movement, but the Allies’ knew their arsenal of powerful close-range weaponry—shotguns, flamethrowers, grenades—would prove extremely effective in the cramped tunnels beneath Zverograd.

The players have arrived. The stage is set. The drama can now begin.

A New Kind of Hell in Operation “Hades”

Operation “Hades” introduces new rules for underground fighting, as well as two new kinds of tiles, each of which comes with their own, specialized terrain rules. When fighting underground, forces have to deal with rules for dim lighting, low ceilings, and limited deployment.

No matter what type of terrain your soldiers contest, there is very little light beneath the city of Zverograd. Units can hear enemies coming, but they are hard to make out in the darkness. Accordingly, units gain cover from each other, depending how many spaces there are between them. When the distance between an attacking and defending unit grows too great, the darkness swallows the defending unit completely, and it simply cannot be targeted.

Meanwhile, there’s not much headroom underground. In caves or in the sewers, the ceilings are very low. It’s only slightly better in the metro. Because of the low ceilings, only soldier units can enter the underground, and units cannot use the Jump skill. Without the support of their combat walkers, soldiers in the underground have to resort to new tactics, and combats in the underground are often won not by the the squad that looks best on paper but the one that responds best to the environment’s unique demands.

As stated above, only soldier units can enter the metro and the sewers. Additionally, these units must enter the battlefield by the end of the second round of the game or risk being left behind. It is akin to suicide to get stranded in the underground, and any unit in an underground scenario that has not been deployed by the end of the second round is considered to be eliminated.

Operation “Hades” also introduces rules for metro lines and sewer tunnels that provide even more terrain-specific flavor to your games. For example, troops marching through the dark, confining labyrinth of Zverograd’s sewers know they’re treading through a deathtrap. They tend to get jittery. Accordingly, the expansion’s new sewer tiles come with rules for “Tense Combat,” wherein all squads gain the advantages of unlimited reactive fire. Unfortunately, just as this is good for you, you’re not the only troops with your fingers constantly resting on their triggers. Your enemy is also nervous and jumpy…

Added Depth

The rules for underground fighting in Operation “Hades” lead to new challenges in several of the expansion’s custom scenarios. However, they can easily apply to other situations as well, breathing new life into old scenarios. For example, a base may have been attacked several times, leaving it in darkness with its power sources completely destroyed. In the darkness, the structure would follow the rules for underground combat, forcing players to modify their tactics accordingly.

Furthermore, Operation “Hades” introduces a wealth of material intended to help players design their own scenarios, including those that combine both underground and surface maps for dynamic, multi-level combats.

Look for Operation “Hades” to add a whole new dimension to your games of Dust Tactics when it arrives.

Fear the dark.

Seize the Skies
Announcing the Upcoming Release of Operation Icarus for Dust Tactics

“Minos may control the land and sea,” said Daedalus, “but not the regions of the air. I will try that way.” So he set to work to fabricate wings for himself and his young son Icarus.
    –Bullfinch’s Mythology, “Daedalus”

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of Operation “Icarus” for Dust Tactics!

While the battle for Zverograd continues to rage, the Allies seek to gain a firmer foothold and strengthen their presence in the area by launching a daring series of raids upon Zverograd’s Axis-controlled airfield. A critical step in Allied efforts to control Zverograd – and one necessary to pave the way for vital Allied air support – Operation “Icarus” is the first thrust of a major assault.

The Allies possess the largest air fleet on the planet. In the skies, their power is currently unmatched, and they know they have to maintain this supremacy in order to achieve global victory. However, in Zverograd, SSU attack helicopters harass ground troops, and new Axis jets cruise the skies. Each bloc realizes the importance of seizing the skies, so as the Allies prepare for their raids against Zverograd’s airfield, they’re bringing their best soldiers, toughest walkers, and deadliest new aircraft.

http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=3635

Still, the airfield is a wide open space, and cover is limited. While Allied forces excel at close combat, their approach is destined to be deadly. Operation “Icarus” introduces new rules for minefields, the limited cover provided by the trees that line the airfield’s landing strips, and the quonset huts in which the Axis forces await the Allied assault. All these elements come together to create the dangerous new battleground that comes sharply into focus with the seven tense and ferocious scenarios of the Operation “Icarus” campaign.

New Heroes

Operation “Icarus” introduces new heroes for both the Axis and Allies.

Colonel Prince von Furstenwerth is the heir of an old Prussian family. For centuries, his ancestors have been soldiers. Today the “Panzerprinz” is one of the most famous armor commanders in the Axis army. His innovative walker tactics have become legendary, and for them, he has earned the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords.

As the Allies press their attack, Axis soldiers rally around their Ace Pilot. Capable of getting his walkers to perform at levels of which most pilots can only dream, the Panzerprinz and those fighting alongside him will offer stern resistance.

In turn, the Allies will hope the stories surrounding their superhuman hero are true. They say that Sergeant Percy Washington can run faster than a horse, tear apart a Luther with his bare hands, and survive direct hits from enemy bullets. With his telekinetic strength, remarkable speed, and uncanny resistance to kinetic weapons, “Sgt. Victory” may provide the Allies just the edge they need to turn the tide of their battle for Zverograd.

At least, Allied commanders know they can count on Sgt. Victory to lend his full support. As he heads to Zverograd, this superhuman soldier seeks not only to rout the Axis, but to look for his missing brother.

Delve Deeper into a War-Torn Zverograd

The action of Operation “Icarus” doesn’t stop with the final battle of the final scenario, however, as the airfield is a vital staging ground for other battles.

Operation “Icarus” builds upon the development of the city of Zverograd begun in Operation “Hades.” Players will find loads of information about the city and its tactically vital locations. Key objectives are scattered throughout the city, each with its own special properties and tactical advantages, and many are linked to each other by Zverograd’s metro tunnels and sewer lines, creating unique combat situations both above and below ground.

Like Operation “Hades,” Operation “Icarus” encourages players to create their own scenarios in the war-torn city of Zverograd, and it offers numerous Gaming Notes to help spur your imagination.

Dust Tactics Premium Edition

As with all our Dust Tactics products, players will have the opportunity to pick up Operation “Icarus” in either the unpainted Dust Tactics version or the masterfully pre-painted Dust Tactics Premium Edition version.

The Premium version of Operation “Icarus” brings you Panzerprinz and Sgt. Victory both professionally painted according to the art direction of Vincent Fontaine, the head of Dust Studio. From the highlights that call out the expressions on their faces to the polish of their boots, each of these Premium heroes is a stunning and stylish addition to any army.

When There’s No Other Road

The SSU and Axis forces have closed off the other points of entry to Zverograd. Now, as the world’s greatest militaries battle for control of the crumbling city and the skies above it, the Allies risk everything to establish a greater foothold and a base of operations for their future air strikes.

It’s an all-out offensive fought in the open, and there’s no time to spare. Get ready for fast and furious combats as the Allies seek to seize Zverograd’s airfield in Operation “Icarus.”

The sixth campaign expansion for Dust Tactics, Operation “Icarus” is scheduled to arrive in the first quarter of 2013.

Campaign Book: Icarus
Announcing an Upcoming Supplement for Dust Warfare

While the war over Zverograd continues, the Allies hope to strengthen their position in the area by launching a daring series of raids upon the city’s Axis-controlled airfield. Such a move will pave the way for vital Allied air support, but can the Allies keep the pressure on against an entrenched Axis presence? And what of the SSU forces, who likewise seek to control the region? As the battle heats up, all three blocs must struggle to secure the ground, even as they look to the sky.

Not Final Cover Art

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of Campaign Book: Icarus, a supplement for Dust Warfare! Announcing Heavy Hitters
Raise the Stakes With New Units for Every Dust Tactics Faction

The SSU infantry hurriedly rounded the corner and began positioning their huge, crackling Tesla Gun. No one spoke. The undead Axis soldiers they were fleeing were not the mindless, slavering creatures they had faced down so many times before. These things were armed, and they moved with a chilling purpose and presence of mind. Grumbling German voices could be heard just around the corner and the SSU hoped their Tesla Gun would be enough to make these Axis abominations more dead than they already were...

The battle continues for the warring factions of Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare. Fantasy Flight Games is excited to announce new units for the Axis, Allies, and the SSU! Read on to learn more about the heavily armed infantry, intelligent undead, and versatile walker coming to the world of Dust.

SSU Heavy Weapons Teams

The SSU Heavy Weapons Teams are focused on bringing some seriously big guns to the Sino-Soviet infantry. The Hailstorm and the Red Lightning units each come equipped with the newest in infantry adapted destructive power. Either of the two units in the SSU Heavy Weapons Teams box will lend an incredible amount of destructive force to the battlefield.

Four brave SSU soldiers make up the SSU Heavy Mortar Team known as Hailstorm. This team looks to pelt their enemies with a 120 mm Mortar capable of loading two different types of ammo. The 120 mm Mortar is capable of a vicious Artillery strike on tanks, or loading a type of heavy round that will easily and utterly destroy any enemy infantry at mid-range. Hailstorm is more than capable of flattening foes at any range.

The Red Lightning unit leverages new Tesla Weapon technology with extremely deadly effect. The SSU has long been working to create weapons that make direct, effective use of electricity itself on the battlefield. Inspired by the research of the brilliant Nikola Tesla, the SSU began the creation of their Tesla Weapons.

Having seen the effectiveness of these weapons when mounted on tanks, the engineers and factories of the SSU have worked feverishly to adapt these incredible pieces of machinery for their infantry. Now, the SSU Tesla Gun Team known as Red Lightning can use this powerful weapon to great advantage, using it to deal damage even in defeat, as the gun may explode and harm all surrounding units in the ensuing blast.

Axis Übertoten Assault Squad

The Axis’ experiments with VK energy resulted in the creation of their abominable Wiederbelebungsserum. When injected with this concoction, the dead rise anew to fight for the Axis, but the Untertoten it creates from corpses are more monster than man. Some soldiers of the Axis have bravely elected to undergo the injection while still living, which has yielded varying results.

The Axis Übertoten Assault Squad is one of the more successful results of these experiments on the living. Nicknamed the Braineaters, these newly augmented troops have retained their sentience, and have been equipped with some powerful weaponry. The new MG 48 and Panzerfaust 100 have been entrusted to these newly dead Axis soldiers. The MG 48 can liquidate enemy infantry in an incredible barrage of bullets, and the Panzerfaust 100 is a particularly potent antitank weapon. With their augmented, undead bodies and powerful equipment, these abominations make for an incredible addition to any Axis team.

Allies Heavy Support Walker

The Allies have been hard at work to ensure that they are ready for any threat that comes at them from the Axis and the SSU. The Allies Heavy Support Walker is their latest piece of versatile VK-powered hardware. The Heavy Support Walker has three configurations, the Long Tom II, the Mobile HQ, and the Skysweeper. Each configuration supplies the Allies with a different advantage, giving the Allies the edge in any confrontation.

Leveraging long-range fire can make or break an engagement, and the Long Tom II is a potent engine of destruction from a distance. Equipped with the Long Tom M2 artillery weapon, this walker can turn the countryside to craters in no time. The efficient design of the Long Tom M2 and the huge supply of ammo on board this walker allows this main gun to be fired without the need to reload, meaning a constant rain of explosive power. The Long Tom II needs to keep its targets at a distance, however, so make sure to hold the line for this powerhouse to be effective.

With all the action on the battlefield, keeping your command units alive and coordinating your troops is vital. To this end, the Allies have converted their newly developed Heavy Support Walker into the Mobile HQ. This command vehicle’s carry capacity of six allows Allied command squad units to hop on board and use the Mobile HQ’s equipment in order to more effectively use their abilities. The Mobile HQ is more than a transport vehicle, however, and it’s equipped with three .50 cal MGs for holding off incoming infantry and any lighter walkers. With expert targeting equipment, the Mobile HQ is also capable of reacting quickly to changes on the battlefield, and is even moderately effective against aircraft! Deploy the Mobile HQ configuration of the Allies Heavy Support Walker to take command of the battlefield.

The Allies are well aware of how quickly the tide can turn when superior air power is in play. Enter the Skysweeper configuration of the Allies Heavy Support Walker. This vehicle aims to keep the airspace above the Allies free of enemies. With its Triple 60 mm AA Gun, enemies will need a miracle if they’re trying fly by the Skysweeper. Once the air is clear, this trio of guns can set its sights on tanks and infantry for an equally deadly effect. Clear the air above the Allies with the Skysweeper!

Premium Pre-Painted Figures

As always, detailed and professionally pre-painted versions of all of these units are available in our Dust Premium Edition Miniatures line. Each of these premium figures is painted according to the detailed art schemes developed by Vincent Fontaine, the art director of Dust Studio.

@Constable
Yes!
:assassin:

Emil and Ivar had just begun reloading the mortar mounted on the back of their vehicle when they heard the explosion from the front lines. A tank was obliterated, but there was movement in the rubble. An Axis zombie, eyes alive with malevolent purpose, clawed its way out of the debris, snarled something in German, and rushed the SSU platform with a mine clutched to its chest. Another deafening boom sounded, and the Ubertoten was knocked to the ground, its mine detonating in a blinding flash as an Allied bomber veered away from SSU gunfire. Ivar and Emil sat in stunned silence for a moment, then quickly snapped into action when the radio crackled to life with new target coordinates.

Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announced three new units for Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare! The three factions are each bringing something new to the battlefield. Zverograd is still a hotly contested military target, and each army is looking to find an advantage. The Allies want to secure their supremacy in the air, the Axis is fielding more Ubertoten, and the innovative SSU continue to find new ways to leverage their limited resources.

The Allies Rule the Skies

The Allies have the largest air fleet of all the factions, though they have recently been given a tough time by the Axis’ jets. The Allies have been hard at work developing a means to meet this new threat: the P-48. The P-48 Pelican is capable of taking off with a very short runway, making this light and versatile fighter very quick to deploy on any new battlefield. The Pelican is equipped with Triple Dual .50 cal machine guns that give it a serious edge against enemies in the air and quickly eats through infantry.

The P-48C Pelican configuration known as Diving Dotty

The Pelican was first put to work as a dive bomber in its P-48C configuration, affectionately known to the Allies as “Diving Dotty.” The P-48C is capable of providing great ground support against infantry while fending off enemy fliers with its heavy machine guns alone. Diving Dotty really shines when it leverages its powerful 500 kg bombs, which can wipe out tanks and troops alike in a fiery explosion. Daredevil pilots dive as low as possible for extra accuracy in using these devastating explosives.

Bellowing Bertie, the P-48X Pelican configuration

In contrast to the P-48C, the P-48X, or “Bellowing Bertie,” prefers to deal death from a distance. Bellowing Bertie makes use of the same heavy machine guns as its predecessor, but is equipped with powerful Ground Rockets that let it strike from a longer range than Diving Dotty. These devastating rockets are a reliable and powerful way to clear a path for any Allied ground forces needing to cut through enemy tanks and troops.

Either of these Pelican configurations are sure to add a great deal of firepower to your airborne Allied forces.

Seeking a Second Death

The Axis has recently deployed their powerful undead Ubertoten on the field of battle. These sentient undead soldiers were created by injecting the Wiederbelebungsserum into live subjects rather than corpses. While this process grants the soldiers greater physical gifts, some soldiers have found the burden of their abominable un-life too great to bear. These souls looking for death’s release volunteer for the Ubertoten Suicide Squad.

The explosive Ubertoten Suicide Squad

The Ubertoten Suicide Squad is armed to the teeth with Magnetic Mines designed to do damage to tanks at close range. They also wield Panzerfaust 100s which they use to soften their targets before charging in to detonate their mines. These troops have less than no regard for their safety, as they try to blow up themselves with their targets. The Ubertoten Suicide Squad are a terrifying and effective presence on the field of battle, and will work as an excellent anti-tank measure in your Axis army.

Cheap and Effective are a Great Combo

The SSU is always working to find ways to support their tremendously effective infantry with more firepower. The BR 47 Self-Propelled Weapon Platform has proven an inexpensive and potent method for bringing some anti-tank weapons to the battlefield. This light vehicle evolved from little more than a farm machine into a staple of the SSU forces.

The Red Fury version of the Self-Propelled Weapon Platform

The BR 47-100 Self-Propelled Weapon Platform configuration, known as the \"Red Fury,\" is wielding a massive 100 mm M1946. This gun is capable of dealing damage to even the heaviest tanks and hardiest infantry. A few BR 47-100s can hold the line against much more powerful targets, dealing effective damage while the enemy attempts to close the distance.

The Red Rain configuration of the Self-Propelled Weapon Platform

If your SSU forces have another method of holding the line and a team of Observers in the field, then the BR 47-200 Self-Propelled Weapon Platform brings a cheap and effective artillery weapon to the field. Known as the \"Red Rain,\" this vehicle carries a 200 mm Heavy Mortar. The cost-effective Red Rain can sit comfortably behind enemy lines and strike a spotter’s targets with deadly effect without ever getting in the line of fire.

Pre-Painted Premium Miniatures for all Three Factions

Each faction is bringing a variety of new forces to the field, and FFG also offers Dust Premium Edition pre-painted models for each of these units’ configurations. Get Diving Dotty in that beautiful shade of blue, see the Red Rain in vivid detail, or bring painstaking painted suicidal Ubertoten to the field. Each of our Dust Premium Edition figures is painted according to the detailed art schemes developed by Vincent Fontaine, the art director of Dust Studio.

Each of these units brings something interesting to the struggle for dominance in Dust Tactics and Dust Warfare, so plan to pick up your favorite faction’s reinforcements in the near future!

Horten HO-347

In October, we announced that the Axis would be bringing some powerful aerial units to the battlefield of Dust Tactics. Now, the Axis is getting close to fielding its new Horten HO-347 jets over the skies of Zverograd, and guest writer Jeremiah Terry has taken the time to explore the potential of these speedy new aircraft.

Speed is Victory…

When the Horten HO-347 was conceived, one premise was held above all others: Speed is victory. The HO-347 is the fastest unit ever to appear on the battlefields of Dust Tactics. With its movement value of three and the ability to fly over any type of terrain, the ‘347 can cover the width of the average Dust Tactics board (twelve squares) in only two turns. However, this huge speed advantage does not come without its drawbacks, and the HO-347 may not be what some expect.

The Fledermaus III and IV are fantastic close air-support aircraft, packing as much punch as some tanks. With their massive speed advantage these planes are able to sweep across the battlefield and take out ground forces with ease. However, despite each having the “Air Superiority” skill, they are not a superior force in a dogfight. In air to air combat, either of the Fledermaus variants have only as much firepower as the SSU’s lowly Mil MI-45 Transport Helicopter. This means that while a Fledermaus can threaten ground forces and provide some anti-air support, it should avoid going nose to nose with the SSU’s most powerful anti-air gunship, the Striker. The Striker can easily take out a \'347 in a single Sustained Attack, while the \'347 will only ever be able to severely damage one of the SSU’s choppers in one round of fire.

This singular limitation of the HO-347s makes the task of planning a force around them a somewhat difficult job, especially when facing enemy air power. It pays to think hard about air combat before settling on a force. While the Fledermaus III and IV may need some extra anti-air support, using ground-based vehicles such as Heinrich or the massive Strumkonig could be an ineffective strategy. These vehicles will certainly get the job done in terms of firepower when combined with the HO-347, but they are far too slow to keep up with the lightning fast ‘347. Without having a comparable move value, these walkers will simply hold the ‘347 back, and the Fledermaus will lose its primary advantage: speed.

One option is to use the Axis’ fantastic class three armor infantry. These smaller units can move into spaces where larger vehicles cannot. When paired with Lara, they gain the “Assault” ability, allowing them to catch up with the speedy Fledermäusen. There are a few Axis class three armor squads that could provide the necessary anti-air support, but your best choice will likely be the Heavy Flak Grenadiers. While the Grenadiers’ weapons will need to be reloaded every so often, their burst fire can take down a helicopter with ease.

Axis Armored Infantry Company with Light Air Support
Unit +   Point Cost

Fledermaus IV    48
Lara + Heavy Flak Grenadiers    21 + 25
Heavy Laser Grenadiers    30
Laser Jagdgrenadiere    28
Jagdgrenadiere    25
Heinrich    26
Ludwig    40
Lothar    36
Beobachter + Manfred    5 + 16
Total    300

In the force listed above you’ll have a lot of anti-armor, and anti-air, firepower. This army build should allow you to deal with all but the most entrenched infantry forces. Lara, the Flak Grenadiers, and Heinrich will all provide some anti-air cover for not only the Fledermaus IV but also for any other infantry and armored vehicles not outfitted for such a role. If this force is properly positioned, most enemy aircraft should find it hard to intercept your Fledermaus when faced with so much anti-air artillery. Additionally, the Fledermaus IV’s 150 Kg bombs can tear through infantry and armor alike, easily cutting a swath of destruction through the enemy’s lines.

And Victory is Life

Another option is to pair up two HO-347s, allowing them to provide their own covering fire. This is also a very tempting idea because of the HO-347’s low point cost of forty-five to forty-eight points when compared to the sixty-two to sixty-nine points that it costs to field the SSU’s Ground Attack Helicopters.

Axis Blitzkrieg Force with Air Support
Unit + Point Cost

Fledermaus IV    48
Fledermaus III    43
Lara + Heavy Flak Grenadiers    21 + 25
Heavy Laser Grenadiers    30
Laser Jagdgrenadiere    28
Ludwig    40
Lothar    36
Beobachter + Manfred    5 + 16
Total    292

Here’s a force that has a lot of tactical options. The speed and “Advanced Deployment” capabilities of the powerful Fledermaus III and IV allow them to strike deep into enemy lines, and the mass of heavy infantry can take out enemy walkers and tanks. Additionally, these ground units will provide the Fledermäusen with some added protection from enemy aircraft. True heavy support is provided by a Ludwig, a walker which no Axis commander should ever be without, and a Lothar. The Lothar combined with the Beobachter will be able to strike enemies virtually anywhere on the board, and Manfred provides the Beobachter team with some much needed protection.

This army also features the added firepower of the Fledermaus III’s 75mm heavy anti-tank gun. While this gun isn’t terribly effective against infantry, and is useless against enemy aircraft, it can tear a tank apart. The 75mm allows a player to roll nearly as many dice against all armor classes as Ludwig’s 88cm does. The Fledermaus III can do even more damage against light and medium armor when it combines its 75mm gun with its Vier 20mm cannons. This allows the Fledermaus III to roll two more dice then a Ludwig against armor class three and four ground vehicles. With the HO-347’s speed and the innate benefits of being an aircraft, the three extra points you’ll pay for a Fledermaus when compared to a Ludwig make it seem quite the bargain. Just remember that if you’re facing down super heavy enemy armor, the Ludwig will still be the better option for the point cost.

As you can see, the new Axis Horten HO-347 is quite versatile, and it can easily break an unprepared enemy. With all the factions soon to be fighting over the skies of Zverograd, no commander should be enter the battlefield without some form of anti-air artillery, or air support.

Take the Skies for the Axis

Special thanks to Jeremiah Terry for his intriguing insights into creative ways to make the most of these new Axis jets. The HO-347 will be available next week, so make sure to visit your local retailer and add these troops to the skies above Zverograd in Dust Tactics!
