I\'m starting off my Dux Britanniarum venture with early Saxons. Figures from the superb Musketeer miniatures range.
First up is Hamarolf \"The Battler\" and his Bannerman Nothhelm \"The Old\".
(http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/khraid/Early%20Saxons/2013-06-26015_zpsb128823c.jpg) (http://s400.photobucket.com/user/khraid/media/Early%20Saxons/2013-06-26015_zpsb128823c.jpg.html)
and on hex bases for Big Men bases:
Hamarolf \"The Battler\"

very nice indeed

Very nice christopher! I am starting a british roman dux force too :-)
-
Thanks guys and looking forward to seeing your force Raif. :)
Christopher

-
Kein Problem, ich verstehe Deutsch gut genug . :)
The hexagon basing is used to indicate a Big Man or Leader in Dux Britanniarum. It\'s not a requirement, but I\'ve seen others do this and I liked it. Although I haven\'t seen anyone sabot the base like this, but I wanted the flexibility.
When on circular bases I can put them on group basing when joining units or for complete other systems like Impetus using sabot basing like below:
(http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/khraid/Early%20Saxons/2013-06-26016_zps8adf6edc.jpg) (http://s400.photobucket.com/user/khraid/media/Early%20Saxons/2013-06-26016_zps8adf6edc.jpg.html)

-
Really amazing paintjob! Wow...
-
Looks absolutely stunning. I look forward to seeing more of the warband.
-
@Everyone
Thank you gentlemen very kind! :)
@Lt. Hazel
Your Germanic figures were a big inspiration for me :thumbup: and I\'ll be doing a similar layout in that I\'ll be painting them as an all around Germanic warband rather then purely Saxon as I plan on mixing the Goth and Saxon range together from Musketeer at some point.
Christopher
-
Wow! Really great work again! :thumbup: :thumbup:
-
Excellent choise of colors and the ornaments on the fringes look so good, awesome paint job !!

Very, very nice Christopher! I\'m especially glad you\'ve joined the DUX-fanclub ^^ . As I\'ve told you at the AttritiCon, I\'m very fond of the system myself and I hope I\'ll be able to let my British fend of an attack of your Saxons soon. Anyway, keep them coming! :thumbsup:
-
Thank you kindly everyone!! :)
@Sir Toby
Yes indeed I\'m having a great time with the system! :thumbsup: For sure I\'d love to have a game vs your Romano British! :D

Awesome Painting on all the minis, keep them coming!

Thanks guys. :)
Making Peace does not seem to be his first intention :-)
Perhaps you have heard the phrase \"speak softly and carry a big stick.\" :D
Christopher
-
... shouldn´t he be named Theodorus instead of Isenhart then ? ;)
your paintjobs never fail to amaze me 8o great work :clapping:
cheers chris
-
Thanks. :)
... shouldn´t he be named Theodorus instead of Isenhart then ? ;)
If he was Romano British it would work, but he wouldn\'t have made it out of childhood with a name like that in a Saxon village! :P Perhaps Theodoric would have worked.

Great miniature again. I like the hexbase, it will help him to stand Out on the Field of glory and soak up some missiles!

@Constable
Thank you very much on comments and the blog and I\'m proud to be responsible in dragging someone back into a great system! :D

Thank you very much! :) As you know I\'ve been following your progress on your blog with great interest and have really enjoyed your work! It would be great to get a game in! :thumbsup: So far, in the campaign the Saxons are doing quite well against Nick\'s Romans, but that could always change.

Great project, great figures, great basing and great painting skills!
-
as always; brilliant stuff! Love the vivid and lively \"scenes\", great basing technique....give us more! :D
-
Stunning as always and yeah - constable is right - encore!
-
Thank you Gentlemen for your support! :D
I\'m taking a small break from Dark Ages for a short time as my AWI needs some attention at the moment, but for those interested in this project I\'ll be back to it soon as the Dark Ages will remain on my top of things to do for 2014. :)
Christopher

Awesome! I\'m also listening to the Arthur-Trilogy-Audiobook from B. Cornwell right now, so I\'m pretty much in the mood to see great thematic stuff like this. Love the dirt on the shields... love the Base-Design... Simply brilliant. :thumbup: :thumbup:
-
Thank you very much Wraith and indeed nothing gets one more in the mood for something then a good Cornwell book especially the Arthur series! :thumbsup: One could say Cornwell is the the wargamers author. :D
Christopher

Simply great stuff here!
I have been a silent follower of a lot of projects here over the last two years or so, but now I just had to get an account... for two reasons.
First: To tell you that your project was the reason for me to go and buy Dux Britanniarum.
Second: To ask HOW ON EARTH DID YOU MAKE THESE BASES???
Those movement trays look just amazing and I have never seen anything like them, well, except for those Lord Of The Ring-bases...
http://i642.photobucket.com/albums/uu145/bucket_of_bcb/MD001830.jpg
Did you make them yourself? And if so, how? Just HOW? :D You\'d definately have to make a tutorial about that technique...

I\'ve added some more Early Saxons/Germanics to my collection on some sabot Impetus bases I made. The rest of my collection has also been put onto Impetus sabot bases as well. The leader figure is on a Dux B. base until I decide where to put him. The figures are from gripping Beast 4/5th century Early Saxon range with LBM shield transfers and flag. As usual I dusted up the shields with my trusty Mig pigments.

Very nice! Especially the dusty shields and the look of the bases! I don\'t know, if it\'s historical correct, but the eye-catching scale-armour with the leather-rows is a nice variation.
-
Thanks Riotamus. Not sure about the armour either, but I wanted to try something out. :)
