This is a scene from parts of my town that I spent a summer building.More will follow later.Tell me what you think. :) Thank you. :beer:
This first scene is a jailbreak.The outlaw Posse is attempting to break their fellow member out of jail and the sheriff and his deputies are trying to stop them.

Can you smell the gunsmoke? :D ;)
-
Hello Axebreaker,
I like the buildings :thumbsup: I\'ll copy the watertower if I ever get to do some Old West scenery. What material did you use to make the walls of the marshall\'s office?
-
sehr schön!
-
Hello Christof,
Thank you! :D I used foamboard that you can cut into(no plastic siding)and made some brick patterns here and there.Then I applied common wood glue to the areas that had no brick work and coated it with sand.I then used balsa wood for all the woodwork.When everything was dry I painted the jail. ;)
-
It looks very nice, as do the rocks at the side. It is a fine inspiration for some spanish medieval huts. Did you use plasticcard as bases?
-
beautiful buildings
how did you do these lines in the stone on the left,
a lot of carving with a knifem or did you use a hot wire or sth like that
-
Yeahaw! Get three coffins ready...
Beautiful buildings and miniatures. I find the sand a tad too much, but I wouldn\'t know what to suggest as an alternative. But that is a minor flaw (if that at all). Amazing stuff. Loving the water tower. Care to let us know how you built it?
-
@Christof
Thank you. :D I used a single layered cardboard and tape along the edges.Then I applied wood glue and sand.When it was dry I painted it.A word of caution cardboard can fold up when drying.Add tape to the back to keep straight.You can spend a little and use plasticard if you wish and then you need not worry about it folding up. ;)
@Angrist
Thank you. :D The stones are shop made(I got them free),but I did texture them a little more.You can just make them using polystyrene,knife,hot wire,fine sand,wood glue and paint. ;)
-
@Phobos
Thank you. :D For the Water Tower I took a cappuccino coffee(Jacobs) container and sawed it in half.I removed the metal ring lining the top.I then took thin balsa wood and wrapped it around the container using wood glue.You might have to use pressure with your hands until it is dry enough for you to release it.When completely dry, use a pencil to score in the boards.Next cut some strips of card(I used a cereal box)and wrap that around the container.All the rest is Balsa wood to include the platform,ladder,struts and sign.Then paint.Now your town has a Water Tower.I hope this helps. :beer:
-
Nice one! :) Thanks.
-
My pleasure. :) One more thing,the top is done the same way as the sides,but I added a trapdoor on it.(not shown in the pics). ;)
-
Hello Axebreaker,
the builings are pretty cool :thumbsup: Thumbs up!
I work also at a western city but I must confess that only one building is self-made :whistling:
The watertower ist beatiful und I think I have to copy it!!!
Are the furniture also self-made?
-
@Vonrath
Thank you. :beer: All the furniture inside the jail is self made and the crates on the outside,but the chair, spittoon,and barrel on the outside are from foundry. ;)
-
This is my next installment.

Stop on in and quench that thirst partner! ;)
-
Whow, the Saloon is absolutly beatiful.
How do you create the roof with the fantastic \"old and dirty\" look? :hail:
Is that cardboard or what kind of material do you use?
-
@vonrath
Thank you. :) For the roofs of both buildings I used thin card(cereal box).I cut it up in strips for the hotel and large irreagular square shapes for the saloon.I added some water to the saloon\'s roofing to get a \"warped\"effect.
For the painting it went something like this(I did this two summers ago).A black undercoat followed by dry brushing codex grey(citadel paint),added a little skull white to the gray and finished the highlight.To age the roof I then used watered down brown ink and black ink and applied it here and there along the roof until I was satisfied with the effect. ;)
Please feel free to ask more questions if you have any.
-
Very nice buildings and terrain! Love these miniatures, too! :hail:
-
seh sehr schön.
-
Amazing stuff, my friend! :thumbsup: I love how you pay attention to the details and that you haven\'t neglected the inside of these buildings. Really, really sweet.
What \"wood\" did you use for the front of the salon. Is that Balsa with some structure carved into it?
-
Really beautiful! Especially the staff behind the front looks very realistic. Good work!!!
-
Thank you everyone :pump: ,I\'ll put in more of the town soon. :D
@Phobos
Not every building I did the inside,but most I did so far. ;) The walls are foamboard with thin balsa wood glued to the outside parts that are showing.I then used a pencil to score in the board effects.
-
This is my second update,based on the classic gunfight in a corral :) .I always liked the iconic scene of the corral gunfight and this was my chance to do it! :evilgrin:
Gunfight!
The antagaonists meet and bullets begin to fly,filling the air with acrid smoke.

The Undertaker,Doctor and Reporter wisely decide to take cover from the hail of bullets!

DRAW!
-
sehr schön!
-
Hello Axebreaker,
absolutly beatiful :thumbup: Especially the trouser with the green/brown stripes. I never finished a miniature with stripes or squares with which I really satisfied.
Are that all Foundary miniatures? It\'s a pitty that the last two pictures are very small. :D
Are the loo self-made?
-
Brilliant! Very nice building!
I would love to see the inside of the hotel. Could you please provide one or two pictures?
regs,
Hessi
-
@Vonrath
Thank you. :D Yes indeed,all the mini\'s are foundry.I\'ll try and include a larger pic of the mini\'s another time.The outhouse(loo)is self made and everything else except the barrels and large rocks. ;)
@Gorac
Thank you. :D I\'m sorry to say the Hotel is one of the few buildings I did not make an inside for.If I remember correctly I ran out of time and could not do the inside. :( But,soon I will have some more pics showing some buildings with inside and outside pics. :thumbup:
-
Cool, I am waiting for new Pics. You are a spring of inspiration for me and my own LotoW City :hail:
-
@Vonrath
Thats nice, 8o I\'m happy that my pics are helping you find new ideas and inspiration. :D I like that about the bildergalerie.I know I\'ve seen several pics that have inspired me with some of my other projects and made me think about collecting in other systems I have not played.Plus,I like some background pics I\'ve seen that have given me some ideas on how to take better pics.I\'m pretty new at photographing mini\'s,but I\'m really enjoying the process.Thank you for the interest you have shown in my pics. :thumbsup:Close ups to follow soon. ;)
-
@Vonrath
Here are the close ups of the Undertaker,Doctor, Reporter and the rudely interrupted gunfighter that you requested. :) :beer:

Just great stuff!
-
auch sehr sehr schön
-
Wow that looks great!
-
Thank you! :D I\'ll be adding some new scenes soon. :beer:

My next installment is Bankrobbery!It is inspired by a film called \"The Longriders\"and tells the story of Jesse James famous bankrobbery in Northfield Minneasota.This robbery did not go well for the James gang,because the town knew they were coming and set up a trap.The gang was shot up pretty bad.The image I love is they all raided the town in dusters and I decided to put this outlaw gang all in dusters as well. :D
Bankrobbery!
Two gang members stand guard by the doors with their fingers on the triggers in the event the law should show up.
(http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/khraid/The%20old%20west/CopyofP1020092.jpg)
(http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/khraid/The%20old%20west/CopyofP1020089.jpg)
(http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/khraid/The%20old%20west/CopyofP1020090.jpg)
Inside the bank two gang members guard the windows while the leader and his right hand man hold the bank employee\'s up at gunpoint.One employee wisely raises his hands,a black servent cowers in the corner and the second employee foolishly draws a pistol from behind his back.Gunfire will soon erupt sending the bank into chaos! :sniper:

A view from behind the bank

(http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/khraid/The%20old%20west/P1020100.jpg)
Will the bank robbers get away with the money or will they get shot up like the James gang?Only time will tell! :evilgrin:
-
This is my favourite part! :love:
-
Although that Western Stuff isn\'t my cup of Tea,I like the Houses and Miniatures a lot.
-
sehr sehr schön!
-
Wow thats very fine stuff!
-
Thank you very much for the support everyone! :DI\'m happy you are enjoying the scenes,it\'s great motivation! :thumbsup:
-
Very good!
how did you design the bricks? It looks like scratched into cardboard or foamboard.
Is there a safe in the vault? Maybe there is an I cannot see it due to the perspective. I know space is limited inside but a few pieces of furniture would make the scene perfect. What about a safe and a slim table for money counting in the vault? Maybe with some dollars on in?
Currently I am working on a 1920s Gangster scenery and know about the problems of in-house design. I will post some pictures, as soon as the scenery is completed.
Regards,
Hessi
-
Ah, a cliff-hanger!
Will the bandits escape?
Where is the Sheriff?
Will upright citizens support the sheriff?
I hope we will see soon... :rolleyes:
-
@Gorac
Thank you! :D You are correct,indeed I did carve the bricks into foamboard. ;)
I made this town 2 summers ago and I did toy with the idea of a safe.When I made this town,I had in mind to build it to look nice as well as practical and easy to move your miniatures in and out.With that said,a small safe would probely finish it off and not get to much in the way.A counting table hmmm,I never thought of that.I\'ll think about that,it is a good idea. :thumbup: I\'ll have to see how much room it will take up to do it first. ;)
Thank you for the suggestions. :)
@Mad Mo
Maybeeeeeeeeeee. ;) We shall see. :evilgrin:

This is fourth installment Trapped!In the last installment I said we must wait and see what happens.The outlaws finish robbing the bank and as they make their escape they find a town ready and waiting for them.The outlaws try and shoot it out. :sniper:
Trapped!
The outlaws step out into the street pistols ready,but not expecting any resistence.
(http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/khraid/The%20old%20west/P1020116.jpg)
They soon see they are mistaken and have an entire town armed and ready.The air fills with gunfire and smoke as the outlaws attempt to shoot their way out.
(http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/khraid/The%20old%20west/P1020112.jpg)

(http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/khraid/The%20old%20west/P1020119.jpg)
One townsmen takes a sniper position on the watertower with his trusted winchester. :sniper:
(http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/pp84/khraid/The%20old%20west/P1020123.jpg)
Soon the robbers see they have no chance and what\'s left of them turn and flee out the back of the bank pursued by the shariff and several very angry townsfolk! :fie: They escape with half the loot,but are shot up and lose several members in the process.Next time you can be sure this gang will not take anything for granted!

Thank you very much everyone! :phatgrin: I\'m happy my little slide show is entertaining to some of you(even you non western fans ;) ).It keeps me motivated. :thumbsup:
Perhaps some of you might start playing LOTOW. :rolleyes: I have found inspiration for doing other projects from pics I\'ve seen posted here in the bildergalerie on other subjects. :thumbup: I\'m really enjoying myself! :D

Hello,
Axebreaker you bring light to my own project again :thumbsup:
The last weeks I have little time for my hobby but this morning I take a look in the forum
and saw your new postings and......hooked again.
First thing when I came home today is :D PAINTING
-
@Mad Mo
Almost there,I\'ll post my 1st Virginia militia soon.
@Everyone
Thank you for the compliments and your support :phatgrin: and I wish all of you good luck in your own projects. :beer:
-
Great terrain and atmosphere as always, Axebreaker. The only little detail I would change whenever you build a building again, is maybe reduce the breadth of the wooden wall planks. They are rather too large.
But that is only the tiniest of details and your work simply stunning.
-
@Phobos
Thank you and I welcome constructive criticism. 8) :beer: I\'ll keep that in mind for my next building. ;)
