I was asked why I didn\'t post in the Gallery with these guys,so here they are. :)
This is the start of my Norman army with a few pics of mounted and dismounted Knights for my DBMM army.
I thought I would try out out a new system of painting in 15mm.I used a black shade method in that I painted the raised areas and left the recesses in the black undercoat.This system works great in a small scale and so far I\'m pleased. :)
Anyone else tried this method before and what do you think? :)
Mounted Knights led by a converted Duke William and Bishop Otto.

Terrific :thumbsup:

:applaus: Awesome paint job.
-
Sehr schön! Besonders die dynamische Wirkung durch die vielen Fahnen gefällt mir aber auch die kontrastreiche Bemalung ist gelungen.
-
Impressive...you\'re crazy, man... Wunderschöne detaillierte Bemalung (und das bei 15mm)!!! :thumbsup:

Hey, you know what !! You are a pretty good painter !!
The only thing which in my opinion lets then down is the basing.
Try doing them ina lighter earth colour (either drab or khaki), a bit of highlighting and static flock
Apart from that they look really impressive. It\'s nice to see that there are people here who paint whole armies and not just single figures.

Great stuff!

@Everyone
Thank you very much for the very nice support! :D
@Desert Rat
I prefer dark bases almost always unless I\'m doing a very dry climate.With this project,I was trying to keep the work load down.I prefer to put my time into 25/28mm but still produce some armies in 15mm, that\'s the reason for the black shade method and simple basing.I was trying to balance time and effort,but still wanted a decent looking army.But,your right in that I could add a bit more highlight to the basing. ;)

Hey Christopher, the quality and quantity of your painted Miniatures is amazing. Very impressive! :thumbsup:

@Iameth
Thank you, :D but I painted these a little while ago,actually I\'m a slow painter. :rolleyes:

Hey, I completely overlooked this thread. I might agree about the bases. They do seem to be missing certain depth, but the miniatures more than make up for that. Great quality paintjobs there. And now I know that OG (if I remember correctly these are OG?) produces some decent 15mm Normans. :thumbsup:
-
Thank you and yes indeed they are Old Glory 15\'s.Old Glory makes very nice 15mm,but their 25mm+ isn\'t that nice. ;)

Hello everyone,
Here are some more Normans using the blackshade method.These are some heavy infantry with the better armored to the front.The shields are more plain and not as fancy as the knights to reflect their less esteemed status. Next up some bowmen and crossbowmen. :)

Class, it looks very impressive, which I liked very very good :thumbsup:
-
Class mate. Not my scale but what\'s better than an awesome looking army? :thumbup: so far
-
Now that\'s an army. Very cool, if a bit too dark regarding the bases. As someone said before, a lighter tone would enliven the unit\'s appearance quite a lot.
Nevertheless, great work, I\'m looking forward to your next installments.

@Everyone
Thank you gentlemen. :D
@Antipator
Thank you.Regarding the bases I understand how you feel and I suppose it comes down to taste.I prefer a dark base as I feel it deepens the color and adds depth from my perspective.The only time I won\'t use a dark base is where it doesn\'t make sense like the desert or a very dry climate.Still.I appreciate your helpful suggestions and welcome them as always as I do everyone\'s.Please keep any idea\'s or advice coming as I will always consider it. :D

Thumbs up. Fantastic work so far and I hope to see more of this painted figures. You can\'t have enough painted Normans. :D
