Hello folks this is the project that has had me busy for the past
couple of weeks as they are very difficult to paint.I thought 28mm
Fallschirmjäger were hard......well think again Ladies and Gentlemen!I spent quite a bit of time pulling my hair,gnashing my teeth and cursing enough to make Blackbeard blush! :verrueckt: That said I am pleased with the end result and that in itself gives you more motivation to do some more.
These are 15mm Fallschirmjäger and are based on the same unit as my 28mm Fallschirmjäger only for Flames of War.So the background is exactly the
same if you want to read again up on their history.
I also painted them similar and again took some artistic license by adding Luftwaffe blue pants and helmets here and there along with Splinter pattern,Marsh pattern and the standard German Fieldgray.However,this time I left off the Tropical pants.Some have gaiters and others do not as was
typical of late war Fallschirmjäger units.
Some of you may have noticed I also painted up a weapons canister which by this time they were no longer doing active para jumps,but I included one as it both adds to the atmosphere of being Fallschirmäjer and for a sense of completeness.
Well,I hope some of you enjoy the pics! :)
Note on the base:The pictures are a bit brighter then real life where the models blend in more.I did this to get get a better contrast between the ground and the figures.The result is a base that looks more reddish then it actually is,although it does have a brown reddish tinge to it just not as intense.

Whow! This is really an amazing level of detail for a 15mm mass army :thumbup:
The only thing I would reconsider is the colour of the earth. It looks quite reddish (Mars? ;)) Or is this an effect of the camera?

Actually the base is a shade darker in real life and the models blend in a bit more,but I wanted the pictures pretty bright to get a contrast between the ground and miniatures to better able one to see them.That said,the earth of the base has a slight reddish tinge which is really quite common here in Europe.I had to shovel mounds of red clay off my tank from right here in Germany when I served in the military. ;)

You are allowed to choose 2 or 3 squads per platoon and I prefer the 2 squads option over the 3 squads as it saves points to buy other support options. ;)

Another unit added to my Fallschirmjäger to deal with any tank surprises.I\'m kind of in a rush to finish some more Fallschirmjäger,because I\'ll be in a tournament end of next week and it\'s going to be tight.

Only thing I have to criticize is the color of their trousers. I don\'t know any examples for Fallschirmjäger trousers in Luftwaffe blue or camouflage. They were either Feldgrau or had some ochre/sand-color during the Africa and Italy campaigns. I know that the Luftwaffeblau is a nice contrast to the splinter pattern but I would prefer historical authenticity.

This is the reasoning I gave on my blog regarding my 28mm Fallschirmjäger wearing Luftwaffe blue trousers.The same answer goes for the 15mm Fallschirmjäger.

controversy among historians.Many site that the Fallschirmjäger were
never issued this type of trousers although others contend they were.I
decided to include them as the Fallschirmjäger\'s regiments were at times
filled out by other Luftwaffe ranks(either as support or processed and
trained) that did include blue trousers and also of course the variety
it offers in painting the platoon.\"

Mann, ich habe bereits gemerkt, dass du gut bist, aber wenn das da wirklich die typischen Regentropfen sind, dann raste ich aus. Wie machst du das? Ich werd irre. Ich bin so was von epic gefailed bei meinen 1/72gern beim aufmalen der regentropfen und du? Du machst es gleich noch ne Nummer kleiner. Ja gehts noch?
Ich fühl mich gerade so ... klein und wie ein Anfänger. Es ist schrecklich und fantastisch zugleich. Wirklich sehr, sehr geile Modelle. *thumbsup*

In dem Sinne verneige ich mich tief vor diesen großartigen Figuren! Möchte wirklich mehr davon sehen (kann so sowieso nicht genug von Fallschirmjägern kriegen.)
Und, um einmal auf die blauen Hosen zu kommen. Obs die gab oder nicht - sie wirken cool. und tatsächlich sehen die leicht grünmelierten Überfallhosen der Fallis aus wie mit einem leichten Blaustich. Von daher ...
Allerdings muss ich sagen - bisher habe ich auch nur auf illustrationen blaue Falli-Hosen gesehen. Noch nie auf Bildern oder in echt (aber gut, ich wusste auch nicht, dass es Tan-Farbene Knochensäcke gibt. Wer malt die denn in Sand an??? Tz)
Auf jeden Fall großes Kino - und damned, die legen sicherlich richtig los, wenn sie können!

@Tan-Knochensäcke: Gab es auch nicht... Es gab Knochsensäcke nur in Grün und diversen Tarnschemen, nicht aber sandfarben. Sandfarben waren nur die Fallschirmjägerhosen und Feldblusen in Afrika (und Italien). Wann genau die zum ersten Mal auftauchen, kann ich gar nicht sagen. Nach Operation Merkur war allerdings klar, dass die Standartausrüstung für den Mittelmeerraum und Afrika zu dick war.
@Axebreaker: As I said, the look of the trousers is perfect. I think it was a reasonable choice and it fits to late Fallschirmjäger.

I know it\'s true I have a tendency to not finish projects due to being easily distracted. :sm_pirate_blush: In my defence though I have finished some where I can field a complete army without a proxy addition such as:
Normans(15mm FOG)
Vikings(WAB)
Romans(WAB)-need a repaint though
Trojans(WAB)
LOTOW Lawmen
LOTOW Outlaws
LOTOW Town
It\'s why I\'m hoping Impetus is a fun game,because the basic set with small armies really appeals to my butterfly painting habits. :)

Been awhile again, but I do come back to all my projects until they are complete even if it takes me until if 100 years old! :roflmao:
Here is my latest which is an FJ 8cm Light Mortar platoon which is a must for any FJ company to conduct offensive or defensive operations due to their exceptional flexibility to rain down lead quickly and effectively.
