-
Prima Minis, tolle Bemalung!

Very nice!

-
I generally don\'t like figures smaller then 15mm, but Pendraken are the exception. I might even do army of them myself someday! Wonderful looking stuff! Well done!

Some of the Pendraken Ranges (for example the New Napoleonics for 1809, the ACW, all ranges sculpted by clibanarium (AWI, late romans, War of the Palatine Succession/League of Augsburg), the new Ancients for the Punic Wars) are great, but many ranges are older and not so up to date. ;)
In my opinion it is also worthwhile to have a look at other manufacturers, especially Tridente Bologna (http://www.tridentebologna.it/miniature_E.php) from Italy - limited range, but great sculpts - probably some of the best on the market. But also others. Bend Sinister has some very nice Napoleonics (as far as I know there was some kind of cooperation with Ebob for the new early Russians ?( ), Kallistra (ok, they are 12/13mm (http://underthemountain.wordpress.com/2009/12/16/baueda-15mm-viking-foot-command/)) and also Magister Militum has some really good ranges (early French and Prussians for the Napoleonic Wars... 8o).

WoW! Those are indeed superb! :applaus:
I seems for small scale miniatures like 15 and 10mm I really like what comes out of Italy....Legio Heroica, Venexia, Tridente Bologna, Mirliton, Baueda Wargames and not to mention rules like Impetus and Operation WWII/Squad.
Are these 10mm we are discussing true 10mm or are they on a scale creep closer to 15mm? I ask this because they are so full of detail and I would find it hard to believe all that fit in at 10mm.

:sm_pirate_ugly:

The Tridente Bologna Minis (some hastati lying on my desk atm) are true 10mm (from sole to eye) and match with the new 10mm Pendraken Romans. (When I saw them first - painted Gauls and knights on their homepage I couln\'t trust my eyes. ;) )
Here is a thread with some comparison pics:

There is a scale creep at Kallistra Miniatures - they are between between true 10mm and small 15mm. - Can be seen HERE (http://btsherman.6sided.net/2011/11/07/10mm-american-civil-war-miniatures-comparison/).

That really is amazing all the detail that can be put into 10mm. :m_pirate_shock: I\'m now going to consider 10mm for some projects, but I am concerned about one thing and that is how the mini\'s look on the table. They look fantastic, but we have an up close look to appreciate the detail . Can you see the figures on the table or is it difficult to make out? I see 15mm without a problem, but I watched a Nap game in 10mm and it was a bit difficult to see the figures detail at arms length.

:sm_pirat_confused:

Hmm I guess that was our little Nap game in Erlangen? ;)
It really depends on how you prefer to play your games - sitting or standing. If you sit in front of the table like you did during your Impetus presentation, it\'s really no problem; but standing..well it gives a better overview, but the details are clearly lost. One unit of my napoleonic Austrians comprises ~ 100 figures, so the mass effect somehow counterbalances the loss in detail, but I personally prefer to be closer to the action.
Therefore, my small AWI army here is acutally not meant to be played on a huge table .. a small kitchen table is the most appropriate battlefield for them.

Ahh, yes that\'s true. I didn\'t try that and indeed that\'s promising news. :) Your armies looked nice, but one just had to look close. It could also be the fact both armies were uniformed completely which probably added to the difficulty in seeing from above.
AWI was one of the things I was looking at doing. I\'ve been trying to build a 28mm army for years and the going is too slow and this looks to be a nice alternative. :)

Your impression was perhaps also caused by the Old-Glory Miniatures - they come on stripes, stand very narrow and have an effect because of their mass. Like HERE (http://cavenderia.blogspot.com/2008/12/how-i-paint-10mm.html). The other manufacturers put their miniatures on single bases and have another effect - like these (http://anothersuchvictory.blogspot.com/2009/05/lobsters-how-to-paint-10mm-redcoats.html)

Write me a PM with your adress, then I\'ll send you a sample mix of AWI-Americans in 10mm. If you like them - great  , if not then you saved money and then there is also the 15mm alternative left (Peter Pig!!! Blue Moon!)

Perhaps that as well.

Thank you! :D I hadn\'t looked at the Peter Pig AWI and those look really, really nice! I like a lot of their figures and for some reason hadn\'t viewed the AWI yet. I must admit I usually prefer 15mm, but thanks to you I\'ll look at the 10mm.

Verdient, würde ich mal sagen
