The wheels,the men, and the cannon itself where given a fresh cleaning by the crew as they are an extremely tidy bunch of guys and after the fight with the British they have a fashion exhibition for the latest Cannon magazine!It just wouldn\'t do to have a speck of unsightly mud on the wheels now would it!
Seriously though,I started the army with clean painting and to have some clean and others dirty wouldn\'t look very cohesive.I sacrificed some realism in this regard to keep the army tied together.
I\'m thinking of doing a Napoleonic army in a dirty and muddied appearance some day as great coats really are nice to do that with.

Maybe a crusader army with a rougher look is also a possibility.When doing modern armies I like my vehicles pretty beat up and dirty.I did this with FOW btw. However,as you pointed out I normally prefer my miniatures painted clean.
