Finally we have good news for you and By Fire and Sword 2nd editon is ready for retail premiere.

If you are not familiar with changes implemented in a new edition, here is a short overview.

By Fire and Sword 2nd edition is in fact a completely different game. While we still use 15mm miniatures, d10 dice and the order system as in 1st edition, the game mechanics have changed to be in-line with modern rules design philosophy. The game is much easier to learn and more dynamic due to changing IGOUGO to alternate activation. Movement trays make gameplay faster as you no longer move individual bases, but entire units at once. You still can play with armies of different point values, the role of commanders issuing orders to units is as crucial as in the previous edition. And, obviously, you still may expect great miniatures (more than half of the range has been updated with new sculpts) and lot of well researched historical background.

Obviously, we're not able to port the entire line 1:1 to the 2nd edition, so we'll start with a limited range which will be supported by regular monthly releases (with a more intensive pace at the very beginning, and slower pace after few months).

Having players with large existing collections of miniatures in mind, we prepared card packs and tray sets which are required to adjust 1st edition armies to the new rules. These products are only temporary available (you can order faction cards only till the end of February). Attachment cards and trays will stay in the offer a bit longer, but we do not plan to keep them forever. Once these products are gone, they are gone for good.

The new edition is not only for veterans though and we have lot of products for all of you who want to start your adventure with our game. We start with 3 armies: Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Ottoman Empire and Kingdom of Sweden, each of these offering different gameplay styles.

For each army you have a Starter/Skirmish set (for Poles and Ottomans there is a 2-Player starter set) which allows you to field an army at the Skirmish level and a Starter/Skirmish set upgrade which transforms your army to Task Force which is the target tournament level. You can also add additional units in the first wave we have Cossack style cavalry for the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth, sipahi for the Ottoman Empire and Dragoons for Swedes).

Let's do not forget about our lovely books. You have 4 of them. If you know our books from the 1st edition you know that you can expect great quality. We are also releasing a set of game tokens and new range finders (have we already told you that we're using inches now?).

Spielt das jemand von euch (noch)? Das Spiel scheint ja seit ca. 2019 in einer Art Dämmerschlaf zu liegen.

Nachdem ja die Zweite Edition irgendwann angekündigt wurde, wurde es Still um die ECW/TYW Erweiterung, die irgendwann mal geplant war.

Wie sind eure Erfahrungen mit dem Spiel.

Ich habs ja etwas beobachtet, die hatten im März 2023 einen Kickstarter zu der 2.Ed, der erfolgreich war....schicken aber im Moment noch immer die Pledges raus  :o Ganz tot ist es wohl noch nicht.

Und ich weiß, dass es ein paar Spieler bei uns in München gibt, frag mal bei Wellington nach, der müsste mehr dazu wissen.

Ich bin ja ein kompletter Fan der Zeit, und generell was historisches Wargaming angeht extrem offen für osteuropäische Geschichten. Vor etwa 10 Jahren wurde mir das Spiel etwas vorgeführt anhand meiner 10mm-Figurensammlung. Ich hab nicht viel davon in Erinnerung, abgesehen davon, dass es eh ok war.

Gefühlt ist die 2.Edition ja schon seit 20 Jahren angekündigt; schön, dass sie jetzt rauskommt. Zwei By Fire and Sword Armeen hab ich gemalt und ein paar kleine weitere Sachen und ich find super, dass es Wargamer.pl gibt, die das 17.Jahrhundert in 15mm bearbeiten. Für mich persönlich hab ich bei weitem genug Regelwerke für den dreißigjährigen Krieg, und ich hab auch eben das ganze Zeug schon in 10mm. Aber es würde mich froh machen, wenn By Fire and Sword 2 ein noch durchschlagenderer Erfolg wird.

Die 4 Bücher gab es letztes Wochenende auf der TACTICA Hamburg zu kaufen, aber soweit ich das mitbekommen habe, zu einem recht stattlichen Preis, der zumindest mich von dem Kauf abgeschreckt hat.
Die 1.Edition haben wir öfters und gerne gespielt und auch wenn ich das jetzt selten spiele, macht es doch immer wieder Spaß.
Für die 2.Edition hatte ich jetzt ein oder zwei Kennenlernspiele, die mich aber nicht so recht überzeugt haben.
Da mag ich andere Regelwerke für die Epoche und den Schauplatz mehr.
Das heißt, ich bin erstmal bei der 2.Edition raus und warte ab, wie sich das entwickelt.
Aufgrund dem nieschigen Schauplatz/Epoche, dem 15mm Maßstab und den verzögerten Releases, würde es mich aber überraschen, wenn das durch die Decke ginge, auch wenn natürlich ein Figurenhersteller aus der EU höchstgradig unterstützendswert ist.

Wäre "Sinnvoll" wenn das Spiel irgendwann sowohl den Deissigjährigen Krieg, als auch die Kriege vom Sonnenkönig abdecken würde. Also wirklich das gesammte 17.Jahrhundert abdecken würde. Von Nieuwport 1600 bis Podhajce und Samothrace 1698.

Zumindest der Große Türkenkrieg 1683-1699 wird im Hintergrundteil wohl erwähnt....
