[Poliorketes]

Angeregt durch meine jüngste Lektüre und mit einem Bauch voll Püfferken hier mein Entwurf für eine germanische Armee des Arminius. Sie weicht doch recht deutlich von der \'offiziellen\' germanen-Liste ab, die aus WAB, AoA und FotW zusammengestückelt werden kann und auch von der, die ich vor einigen Jahren mal geschrieben habe.

Anmerkungen:
Die Punkte sind angelehnt an die bisherige Germanenliste, wobei wegen der Sonderregeln die Infanterie ungefähr 3 Punkte teurer geworden ist. Bei den Charakteren ist bei gleichen Kosten die Ausrüstung teilweise enthalten, dafür ist die BF deutlich niedriger. Die Kosten für Arminius\' Sonderregel sind willkürlich, aber sicherlich nicht zu hoch. Die Beschränkung der Kavallerie auf 25% habe ich gewählt, da wohl nur 1/5 der Germanenkrieger beritten waren, aber es möglich bleiben sollte, bei 2000 Punkten eine größere Einheit aufzustellen. Die Einträge, die gegenüber der bisherigen Germanenliste fehlen, habe ich aufgrund der Schlußfolgerungen im Heer des Arminius herausgelassen. Aus gleichem Grund habe ich zu den armeeweiten Sonderregeln gegriffen.
Stubborn sollte als Option nur für Chatten gewählt werden. Rüstungen kamen eigentlich nicht vor (Beutewaffen wurden geopfert), aber wer der Ansicht ist, Arminius und sein Gefolge hätten aus ihrer Zeit in römischen Diensten noch Rüstungen, hat die Option für Charaktere und Comitatenses.
Die Armee dürfte sich ganz anders spielen, ich wollte eine hit-and-run-Nahkampfliste ohne über-Einheiten (Mir ist klar, daß berittene Comitatenses potentiell S5 haben, aber sie sind richtig teuer bei mieser Rüstung und werden aus den Charakterpunkten bezahlt.

Germanic armies used their mobility to their best advantage. When loosing a round of hand-to-hand combat against units with an armor save of better than 6+ / 5+ if mounted (thus more encumbered by their equipment), they may choose to FBIGO as if drilled (note: this is only for FBIGO - they are not drilled!).

Furor Germanicus
The charge of germanic infantry was feared and Caesar wrote at one occassion that his legionaries didn\'t have time to throw their Pila as the german charge was to quick to react. To represent this, a unit charged by germanic warbands in close order  may not stand and shoot or fire & flee. The charged unit may only use throwing spears and equivalents if the germanic infantry unit is more than half their charge move away.

Framea
The framea as described by Tacitus could be used as either a thrusting spear or throwing spear. It became the standard weapon of the germanic warrior during the first century AD, but during the time of Arminius wars the older thrusting spear was still the norm. As this is debatable I have included the framea as an otion. Swords or other hand weapons were rare even after Arminius and should be restricted to the wealthier warriors. A framea may be used as a thrusting spear or as a throwing spear only if the unit is equipped with swords. If not it may only be used as a thrusting spear (for obvious reasons it is no good idea to throw away your only weapon).

The commander of a germanic army at the time of Arminius was not a supreme ruler, but a primus inter pares elected through the thing to lead the army to war. Marobodus seems to have been an exception as he was a king not only by name (as his or Arminius successors in later years). Interestingly Arminius was never a king and had to share command with his peers (notably his uncle Inguiomer).

Patience
Arminius knew that the roman legions were unequalled in open battle, but his troops would not always follow his advice (which saved Caecina in 15 AD and caused the germans dearly at Idistavisio the next year). To represent this, if your army is led by Arminius reroll the dice for warband rule #2 once if you scored a 1 on the first roll (note - this is not optional). A unit led by Arminius never has to roll for Warband rule #2.

The Thing elected members of the Nobilitas as their warleaders.

Comitatenses riding horses may be mixed with Centeni. No more than 50% of mixed units may be Comitatenses. As long as there are more than 5 comitatenses alive the unit has the comitatenses special rule. The same goes for stubborn unless the centeni are stubborn themselves.
Mounted Comitatenses are light cavalry
If taking Comitatenses they must be accompanied by their Dux or by Nobilitas. Nobilitas may only have comitatenses if the army general has them.
Comitatenses are a unit, but are paid for from the characters point allowance.

Centeni
The 100 best warriors of each district of a germanic tribe were banded together as the centeni and then mixed with an equal number of cavalry. The combined formation fought on foot but gained in mobility when the centeni clinged to the manes or tails of the horses.

Klingt ganz gut! Aber beim ersten Überfliegen würde ich sagen dass der Upgrade zum Framea +1 kosten sollte. Das macht sie nämlich ziemlcih machtig! Aus einer defensiven Einheit wird eine die sowohl übel im Anriff, als auch in der Verteidigung ist.

Liest sich wirklich gut!

Gebe allerdings Bernhard Recht, was die Framae angeht. 1 Punkt sollte das schon kosten. Denn trotz der Beschränkung, \"only if the unit is equipped with swords\", wird man wohl so ne Auswahl eher seinen Chatti Veteranen geben. Aber genau die haben ja wieder das Schwert dabei...

Also denke ich wäre 1 Punkt angemessen. Ansonsten gefällt mir die Liste sehr gut!

Übel im Angriff sei dahingestellt, das ist immer noch S3 und in der Defensive haben die Jungs keine Rüstung. Ich verstehe aber, was ihr meint - ich würde die Frame am liebsten +0,5 Punkte kosten lassen. Noch ein Punkt mehr macht die Armee sehr teuer. Eigentlich sollte die Frame ganz raus, aber das ist wohl zu umstritten.

Ãœbel im Angriff aus folgenden Grund

Normalerweise hab ich folgende Optionen wenn ich den Charge betrachte:

- Die \"Standard Barbaren\" haben Throwing Spears, in der ersten Runde kämpft sie aus zwei Reihen und in der zweiten aus einer Reihe -> Entweder gewinnt sie in ersten Runde nach einem Charge, oder sie haben in der zweiten ein Problem, vor allem wenn der Gegner Thrusting Spears hat. In der Defensive haben sie auch in der zweiten Runde ein Problem.

- \"Doofe Barbaren\" wie meine Traker haben Thrusting Spears, was im Charge in der Regel sehr ungünstig is -> Wenn sie chargen und die erste Runde überleben, sind sie in der zweiten Rund richtig gut beim Kampf. In der Defensive sind sie sowieso nicht schlecht mit Thrusting Spears.

Ich muß also schon überlegen wie ich sie einsetze und was ich wage, ausser die Trottel versauen den Warband roll  :whistling:

Die Framae Option erzeugt die Rundum-Sorglos Barbaren, die in jeder Situation aus zwei Reihen kämpfen und damit auch sehr gute Römerfresser sind. Ich greife die Legionäre an, und kämpfe in der ersten Runde aus zwei Reihen wie die Römer. Falls ich gewinne sind die Ömer vermutlich platt, wenn die Römer überleben, kämpfe ich auch in den folgenden Runden aus zwei Reihen und die Ömer nicht.

Sollte also schon +1 kosten

Jetzt verstehe ich, was Du meinst - ist aber nicht so gewollt. Du nimmst die Frame entweder als throwing spear oder als thrusting spear, das gilt für den ganzen Nahkampf. Im Angriff heißt das also, entweder Du willst in der ersten Runde alles, wirfst die Speere und nimmst dann in den Folgerunden das Schwert, oder Du behältst die Frame und spielst \'blöder Thraker\'.

ah ok, dann versteh ich das mit den 0.5 Punkten! Mit dem entweder oder für den gesamten Nahmkampf sind sie zwar auch flexibler, aber +1 könnte schon etwas teuer sein  :S

Du könntest das Problem durch einen Preis pro Unit lösen wie es in BTGG gemacht wird. Framae für 10 Punkte pro Unit was dann bei ner durchschnittlichen Einheit von 20 - 24 Mann auf die 0.5 rauskommt

Finde die Liste irgendwie nicht so gut, Maik.

Alle Einheiten Bewegung 5, Warband, Feigned Flight, Light Infantry und Stubborn ist schon etwas exotisch.  
Für mich beisst sich auch sowas wie Warband und Feigned Flight, aber das ist Geschmackssache (Warband und Stubborn eigentlich auch )
Sowohl Stubborn als auch Feigned Flight sehe ich eher als disziplinierte Manöver einer trainierten Einheit uned Warband eher als brachialen undisziplinierten Angriff der mit Wucht daherkommt. Deshalb finde ich auch das \"Fall Back\" unpassend
So wären sie hochmobil, sehr schnell, sehr verläßlich und recht günstig dafür.

Nur eine Infantrieauswahl, waren das alles Elite-Bauern?
Wenn Bauen gemeint sind, warum keine günstige Scout-Variante? Gabs die nicht?
Also sowas wie Young/Warrior/Veteran als Unterteilung, wobei nur Veterans stubborn bekommen könnten.

Fall Back hat die gleichen Gründe wie der feigned flight. Die Armee soll hochmobil & schnell sein. Das sie günstig ist, glaube ich nicht - der normale Krieger kostet 3 Punkte mehr als \'normale\' Barbaren. Übrigens ist FBIGO gerade gegen Römer eine zweischneidige Sache (Pilum).

Bauern ja, Elite nein. Ich habe mich da unkritisch an die Buchvorlage gehalten, kann das aber nachvollziehen. Die Germanen haben ihre Aufgebote nach Sippen aufgestellt, für bessere Truppen gibt es nur die Centeni, die Chatten und die Comitatenses.

Pila sind ja throwing spears, wenn auch heavy. Das ist hart, aber die Römer brauchen die Germanen ja auch nicht auf 5\" heranlassen.

Ich kann nachvollziehen, daß Du mit der Liste Probleme hast, weil sie doch deutlich anders als andere Barbarenlisten ist. Sie braucht Praxistests, und ich kann mir gut vorstellen, daß am Ende noch ein Punkt pro Modell dazukommt (und stubborn rausfliegt). Aber eines ist zu beachten - der Großteil der Liste besteht aus recht teuren Modellen mit KG/S/W3 und einem 6+ RW. Keine fanatics, kein Priester.

Ich hab keine Probleme mit der Liste Macht doch Spass Listen zu kreieren, vor allem dann auch das Testen.

Dürfen die Römer ihre Pila benutzen oder nicht? Ich find den Text unklar. Anfangs wird gesagt sie konnten nicht, unten das Throwing Spear und Äquivalente (also auch Heavy Throwing Spear also auch Pilum? ) benutzt werden können, eben keine Wurfwaffen (Fernkampfphase) aber Nahkampfwaffen (also Pilum ). Hoffe ich rede kein Kauderwelsch.

Wo ich immer Bauchschmerzen bekomme ist, wenn Einheiten viele Sonderregeln haben.
Feigned Flight ist hammerhart für Blockinfantry und dann auch noch Warband und B5 und stubborn.

Vielleicht wäre splitten sinnvoller \"entweder-oder\":
Wenn rank&file dann Warband
Wenn plänkelnd Feigned Flight
Beim Aufstellen muss einer der beiden Optionen gewählt und beibehalten werden.

Wär\'s nicht einfacher statt Framae (neue Regel/Waffe) einfach als Ausrüstungsoption Throwing or Thrusting Spear zu schreiben, kommt ja aufs gleiche raus ohne was addieren zu müssen.

I more or less agree with Olaf,and I wouldn\'t expect much support in it\'s current form.

The main reason is feigned flight and warband together is a really nasty combo.Ouch!

The nice thing about unofficial lists is they are well.....unofficial and you can do as you please. :vinsent: So,if your friends agree then why not have a go and see how it goes. I have an Ancient German army and I would be curious as to your results.

Vielleicht solltest Du die Warrior allgemein in normale und Veteranen einteilen. Die Veteranen haben dann auch gegen Aufpreis die Tricks wie Stuborn, Feign Flight etc. drauf.

Grundsätzlich finde ich die Liste interessant, wenn sie tatsächlich den Beschreibungen von Tacitus und Cäsar, den zwei alten Labersäcken nachempfunden ist. Warum soll man mit Gewalt Einheiten dazu erfinden die es nicht gab, ist halt so.

I think it\'s worth pointing out that feigned flight and warband are in different units in Spanish list and not with every unit as I understand he is proposing.For example the infantry have feigned flight ,but no warband and vice versa for the skirmishers who have warband,but no feigned flight and the cavalry along with the characters have neither.There is no infantry unit in WAB that has both warband and feigned flight that I\'m aware of off the top of my head.For what I believe to be a very good reason..........it\'s simply a nasty combo and then if you throw in stubborn well.....

Yes,it is interesting if unbalanced,but that doesn\'t matter if his mates agree.However,if he\'s looking to attract more support outside his group then I\'d suggest at minimum droping warband and feigned flight in his units and either break it up like the spanish list or have a 0 to 1 special unit that can do this.

Sorry you are wrong. The Celtiberian Warriors are Infantry with both Warband and Feigned Flight (Hannibal, p. 72) theoretically you can build a complete army with them. And if they are expensive enough I would see no problem with them.
