Swordpoint is a new set of “big battle” game rules for fighting
actions in the ancient and medieval periods. It has been developed over
the last two and a half years by the Gripping Beast team and an
enthusiastic play-test group. It was developed with our 28mm figures
but, as it employs multi-figure bases, various sizes of figures can be
used.


Games fought with Swordpoint involve between 100 and 250 figures per
side arranged into betweeen 6 and 12 or so units. The game is designed
to play out in about 2 hours after set-up, and gives a large battle
feel. It encourages the use of historical tactics and emphasises the
need to maintain cohesion in the army’s battle line, without being
prescriptive. Unusual units are catered for by special rules which give
the flavour of their historical prototypes.


An extensive series of publications are planned and the game will
enjoy the support of web downloads, a living FAQ and a range of
supported events.


 


Free Downloads - Scenarios & Army Lists


We have an initial series of twelve scenarios for Swordpoint; one is
included within the rule book, and the remainder will be available as a
free download.


The rule book will also contain several army lists. While all the
army lists will be published in a series of supplements, several more
will be available on line from the publication date of the rule book, to
facilitate early play.


Publications Schedule


The game system will comprise of the rule book, and a number of
supplementary publications initially focussing on providing army
compilation lists created to a consistent points structure, thus
enabling games between almost any historical armies (though preferably
of compatible time frames). The initial publication schedule will be:


Rule book: 19th November 2016 (available at Warfare, Reading)


Dark Age Armies: December 2016 50 armies appearing in history between 300 AD and 1064 AD


Classical Armies: Spring 2017 60 armies appearing in history between 700 BC and 300 AD


Medieval Armies: Summer 2017 50 Armies appearing in history after 1064 AD, expected to include the
Italian Wars and the Moghul invasion of India. Additional rules apply
to this period.


Chariot Era: Summer/Autumn 2017 30 armies appearing in history before 700 BC. Additional rules apply to this period.

After this initial schedule, we will be concentrating on producing
campaign supplements which go into more detail about the refighting of
great campaigns and wars of history (think, for example, of the Punic
wars or the Successor wars, or the campaigns of Charlemagne). We are
looking for enthusiasts who are interested in collaborating with us in
the development of these further works.

Also wenns da vorm Erscheinen nich irgendwo sehr viel ausfĂĽhrlichere Infos gibt, dann wird das doch niemand vorbestellen.....

Also die Engländer werden das vermutlich alle blind kaufen. Von daher macht die Vorbestellug für die Inselaffen schon Sinn. Das gemäßigte Festland hingeben will definitiv erstmal Infos, bevor es da Geld reinsteckt. Aber das ist ja das schöne am historischen Tabletop: Es hat Zeit. Ob ich das Buch jetzt habe oder in einigen Monaten... :rolleyes:

Shit... hat bei mir auch schon geklappt und ich habe das Teil vorbestellt

Viel mehr Infos wirds wohl nicht geben ... hätte mir zwar einen aussagekräftigen Spielbericht erhofft aber für \"nur\" 20 GBP ist das keine allzugroße investition und der Veröffentlichungskalender bezüglich der anderen Bücher/epochen verspricht imo schon einiges. Soweit es die würfelgötter, bei rechtzeitiger Veröffentlichung, wollen werde ich das Ganze an einem der Feldherrentage bei uns präsentieren.

Oh Gott das ist so unglaublich toll das neue System, ich hab zwar keine Ahnung davon, aber jeder der sich kritisch äussert ist böse. Ich base jetzt alle meine Figuren um und werde niemehr was anderes spielen. Ausserdem sollte man eine Science Fiction Version basteln, mit der man Raumschiffkampf simulieren kann basteln

Klar, gibt auch immer schön Kekse und Schokolade beim Spielen. Wer will schon Lembas und Wasser :negative_1:

Ich wĂĽrde mich sehr freuen wenn die Vorbestellungen dazu genutzt werden vielleicht nochmal ein paar mal Korrektur zu lesen und die Fehler frĂĽhzeitig/vor dem Erscheinen zu erratieren (das sollte ja eigentlich nichts mehr sein, aber wir wissen ja wie sauber auf der Insel lektoriert wird). Wahrscheinlich ein frommer Wunsch aber warum nicht. Ich freu mich jedenfalls drauf.

Wer Interesse hat, kann uns ja im November in MĂĽnchen besuchen, falls das Buch dann auch kommt! Wir werden uns in der Gruppe mal intensiv mit Shadowpoint auseinandersetzen, testen, zerlegen, zerpflĂĽcken ....
