Thanks for all the kind welcoming words!

I\'ll be along at some point tonight - not really expecting to play anything, just to pop in and meet you all (and maybe arrange a game for next month!)

See you later.

Hi Dan,

very nice that you did come along, I hope you enjoyed the meeting.

I would be pleased if you like to try a game of DBA with me next time.

Greetings,

Great!  I\'d love to try a game or two of DBA...

I\'d also very much like to put on a game of something (either the next session, or another one after that):

Perhaps a Polemos game?  It has a very nice command & control mechanic which is used as a basis for various period-specific rules. I have a small English & French army for the War of Spanish Succession, so i could set up a simplistic version of the Battle of Blenheim (Blindheim to you lot!  Not far from here...)

Alternatively, i have two very large Warmaster armies - so if anyone would like to try these rules (which i think are excellent). I would be happy to play a teaching game - or act as referee and set up some kind of scenario..?

If anyone is interested, let me know and I\'ll arrange things...

As JĂŒrgen and me both are still painting a 10mm Sassanian Warmaster Army this offer is very promising ...
I would like to play ...

CU next time

Hello Dan,

I\'d like to welcome you to sweetwater. :D I\'m the resident American here and only native speaker that I\'m aware of.The gentlemen on this site are very kind and have always been very gracious to me in regards to my postings in English. It works very well as I don\'t need to expose them to my horrible spelling and grammar in regards to writing German.Besides, most of them write better English then I do German anyways. ;)

From what you listed I do happen to play American Civil War in 15mm using the Fire and Fury rules system.I own both Union and Confederates, although I have a preference for the rebels.

I don\'t have 6mm WWII,but I do have FOW in 15mm.We are currently running a campaign at our club,(Bamberg)but it is a flexible one that allows players to jump in as the please. At our club we play the period and not the politics and therefore if you want you can join us if your in the mood for modern warfare.Only thing is that you live quite a long distance from us about 3 hours by car,but much quicker by train.

I\'m in the process of building up a DBA/DBMM Norman army that can also switch hit for FOG and so I can also play this.I have plans to add Vikings and Samurai as some point.

I\'m an avid WAB player with several armies. This is a set of rules you should look into, because you live near Munich and their is  a pretty decent sized Following there.Talk to Ghibelline or Leondegrande.

I also play British Grenadier American War of Independece in which I\'m building an American army at the moment.

Anyways, whatever you decide to do I welcome you to the forum and the wargaming community in Germany. :D

Cheers
Christopher

Hey Christopher,

Thanks for the welcome - much appreciated!  Shame you\'re so far from me, but you never know maybe the chance to meet will come up (open invite to pop over and say hi if you\'re ever down Munich way (actually Gauting, on the way to the Starnbergersee)). Oddly enough have never tried the Fire & Fury rules for ACW, but would like to. Used to play a little known set called \'Whipping Bobby Lee\' by the Ragnar Bros. Very, very good - and available to mail order for only EUR8 so a bargain too these days..!

I would be happy to play 15mm FOW (Have a German army back in the UK), and WAB - but i must admit i do tend to prefer games with a command & control mechanic that limits what you can do each turn (e.g Warmaster), rather than ones that don\'t (e.g. Warhammer).

You should also try Crossfire for WWII sometime - best rules for infantry games that i know.

In fact, i am currently tempted to convert the Crossfire rules for a near future urban streetgang skirmish game (using 28mm minis and terrain), just so i can use them without broaching the no 20th Century period rule at the club! Anyone interested?

Carlos - Happy to set up a simple Warmaster game for you next time: Empire Vs Undead - just to get a flavour of the rules. The plain Warmaster rules have a few faults that the Warmaster Ancients rules fix very well - but i only have painted fantasy armies at the moment...

Also - Jurgen mentioned perhaps bumping up the meets at the Puchheimer club to once every two weeks instead of once a month..?  I just wanted to give my support to this, and state that i could attend regularly.

Next year in the summer I\'ll for sure be in Munich, but for WAB gaming. As far as large scale in terms of battle size for ACW in 15mm wargaming goes, then Fire and Fury is the best system out there. This is my opinion and  has largely been the feedback I\'ve received. In 28mm the scale of the battle is reduced and I\'d recommend Johnny Reb or Guns at Gettysburg.Currently I\'m painting an army for AWI British Grenadier that is a superb system for simulation wargaming in which command and control and more importantly morale are a huge factor and could very well be what your looking for.We are building it up for 25/28mm wargames, but at our club we run it at 20mm to learn the rules and get some practice runs in.Look me up if you ever come this way. :)
As for the other systems you mentioned I haven\'t tried them yet.

Cheers
Christopher

Hallo miteinander,

@ Dan: Also from my side a heartedly welcome! You seem to be interested in DBA, which is the only rule set that I\'m actually able to play. So maybe we will have a chance to match up. It\'s a while ago when I\'ve been to UK for 8 months in 2002 (business). I stayed in Colchester, and I once met some wargamers there at a wargames exhibition. Have you been there as well, by any chance?

Viele GrĂŒĂŸe,

Thomas

Hi there,
a \"wonderful\" possibility to meet again could be the SĂŒdkurventreffen in Erlangen on the 3rd of Oktober. A whole day playing!
Check the topic SĂŒdkurve

Maybe i will make my way on the 22.09 and play some simple games of DBA/DBMM or if anyone is interested: WRG 6th
@Dan - Nice Idea. I usually play the \"Good\" fractions :) Working on Woodelves and Dwarves and a Centaur Army. Last week I bought a painted High Elves Army on E-bay. I will see what comes from Britain in a couple of days
Bye

>>>unfortunately 3rd Oct is the day before my eldest\'s birthday, and we\'re planning a trip to legoland for him then<<<

I don\'t have a game planned for Tuesday, but would like to play...

I will put my Warmaster stuff in the car, and have a simple 1000pt Empire Vs Undead game ready if anyone would like to learn the rules (I have enough for a 3000pt game if anyone is already and expert and would like a full-on game!)

I\'d also be very happy to learn DBA or anything else you guys like to play - so offers are welcome!
